It is evident that IoT (Internet of Things) has become one of the most trending technologies today and is being discussed almost everywhere. It is undoubtedly an increasingly growing concept at many workplaces and offers so many concepts to explore. IoT refers to a network of physical devices that can be connected to one another to collect or transfer data using the internet. It’s like merging the two worlds – digital and real but without the involvement of help from humans.

According to a recent survey, by the end of the year 2020, the market of IoT is expected to reach $7.1 trillion.

IoT has a wide range of applications in various fields; including infrastructure, manufacturing, energy saving, automation, transportation, and healthcare. IoT is already changing everything around us; the way we live, the way we work and even the way we communicate. With its increasing applications in several fields, IoT is surely going to change the way we view the world of technology.

Let’s take a look at some of the most astonishing inventions in technology that involve IoT,

Internet refrigerator:

The refrigerators are getting smarter; credits to the concept of IoT. They are capable of sensing the kind of material being placed in it, keeps a track of groceries, makes a shopping list, allows you to send messages to the phones and even lets you play music.

Coffee making:

A product called Mr.Coffee allows you to prepare coffee and even lets you choose the brew strength right from your phone. One click and a steaming cup of coffee are ready for you. The machine is connected to the phone where you are required to install the suggested app and you are good to go!

Thermostats:

With IoT, we can now adjust the temperature of any room, at any time, from anywhere, simply through our phone. With sensors installed in the rooms, we can control them via our mobile phones. This is a great way to save energy.

Medicine and healthcare:

IoT has immensely benefited the field of medicine and healthcare with inventions like prescription bottles with sensors installed that remind the users of dosages.

Agriculture:

IoT allows the farmers to keep a track of soil quality and changes in weather with the devices used in farming that have in-built sensors.

Future of IoT

"As the Internet of things advances, the very notion of a clear dividing line between reality and virtual reality becomes blurred, sometimes in creative ways." – Geoff Mulgan

Undoubtedly, the future of IoT is promising and positive. It is expected to make our future smart and our lives easier. Most progress is expected in areas like entertainment, security, and healthcare. There are several inventions relating to IoT in research stage right now; that promise to blow our mind in near future with their results.

In conclusion, we can say that IoT has the potential to completely transform the make revolutionary changes in almost every field and industry. The possibilities here are endless and many organizations are investing billions in the ideas relating to IoT. This simple concept of extending internet connectivity to various devices is transforming the world making the future seem bright.
