If you want to convert your brand’s logo into a bigger, sharper, and clearer image, vectorization of your logo becomes a necessity. Vectorization of an image can be defined as an art of recreating and repainting the exact image in a bigger size which becomes ideal for printing purposes where the quality of the image is not lost. An image can be converted into a vector image using graphical programs such as Corel Draw, Illustrator and Photoshop. A vector image is made with different objects in the graphics package and one can edit each object individually. Each object can be adjusted in shape, size, position and color.

There are basically two types of image files when it comes to vectorization: vector and raster. A vector art file is usually created in a graphics package such as Adobe Illustrator. There is no software that can instantly convert a raster image into a vector image and even if one such software exists, the quality of vector image will be laughable. You need a proper vector graphical suite to redesign the image into a vector image. What one needs to know is that raster images are made up of pixels that are saved in an ordered series of numbers in the image. Unlike raster images, vector images are saved as lines and curves with the coordinates of their starting and ending points.

Lines and points are used to create a vector image, these lines and points are joined with a collection of points to create an image. Vector images have an advantage over other image formats such as png, jpg and bitmaps. You can easily scale a vector image without losing its quality. This is why company logos, maps, and some other objects use vector graphics while designing them as these objects are frequently resized.

The reason we need vector images is to resize them according to the need and printing requirement. If you want to print an image on a screen or engrave it on any object, you will need a vector image to accomplish this. A vector image creates a sharp and clean print. With raster images, the quality decreases and the printed image looks pixelated.

Vector art has been evolving with time and the need for custom logo design as well.
