The members of the Indian Foreign Service represent the country in the international territory." – Now the level of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) exam can be construed from the above-mentioned duties. If anyone is willing to take the exam must understand what they need to possess. Yes, we are talking about the IFS Exam Eligibility.

IFS Exam Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: The candidates must hold the citizenship of India. In other words, they must be Indians. If someone belongs to Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan or if they have migrated to India hoping to settle down here permanently, they can surely apply for the exam. Candidates who have migrated to India from Pakistan, Vietnam, East African countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi and Zaire, Sri- Lanka and Burma with an intention to settle down forever are also eligible for the exam. Such candidates need to produce the certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.

  • Educational Qualification: (a) The applicants must hold a Bachelor Degree or equivalent degree from recognised University or Board with any one of the following subjects - Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry, Statistics, Chemistry, Zoology, Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, Agriculture, Physics, Forestry and Botany. (b) Students who are taking their final year exam can apply for the Indian Foreign Service Examinations. Upon passing the exam, they have to produce the passing proof of the examination.
