  1. Japanese Counsel Ryoji Noda on Wednesday approved India's sportsman spirit and said Indian athletes have the potential and hard work to qualify and emerge as a strong candidate for 2032 summer Olympics. Ryoji intimated this during an event at Ganpat University in Mumbai. He also drew attention to India's active participation in all the major events which are coming in the yesteryears including the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Ryoji said Japan is willing to support India in its sports and environment-related initiatives. He also applauded India's effort for stopping air and water pollution.
  2. Pakistan emerges as a major team in the T20 International tournament going on in Zimbabwe. Pak players beat Zimbabwe by 7 wickets on Wednesday resulting on the elimination of the African country from the Tri-series. While Pakistan moved to the semi-final with this match, Zimbabwe was held back from making many records, Player Solomon Mire missed the opportunity to beat a century from just 4 runs that could have been the country's first ever century in an international T20 tournament. Zimbabwe was halted at 162 on the loss of 4 wickets.
  3. Bangladesh hits the lowest score in the test. The team scored only 43 runs losing all the wickets in 18 overs in a test match against West Indies. This is the lowest all-time score in any test match since the Indian team hit 42 in 1974. Bangladesh had earlier hit a 62 against a match with Srilanka in 2007. While the team was halted by the West Indies player at just 43, West Indies bowler Kemar Roach made a record of taking 5 wickets in just 12 balls. Incidentally, Jaques Kallis who also holds the same record of taking wickets did it against the Bangladesh team.
  4. Venus Williams was overjoyed by the Wimbledon organisers for providing centre stage courts to women players and giving major spotlight of the tournament to women's. The badminton sensation remarks drew much attention of the Wimbledon tournament as five of the seven women's singles matches were held at the centre stage court as some of the matches ended up early.
  5. The Mumbai Cricket Association deadline for application from candidates for coaching the under 19 teams ended on Tuesday. The post went to India's former cricket player and wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra. Ratra has agreed on the same as the Mumbai Ranji team coach. Ratra is considered one of the three former first-class cricketers and was the coach of Punjab's Ranji cricket team till last year. While former cricketers Ramesh Powar and Mumbai team former wicketkeeper Vinayak Sawant has also applied for the post of senior coaches.
