A car fridge – camping requisite

If you spend most of your time on the road, out-and-about, and on-the-go, then you will find a car fridge necessary for your adventures. It can be handy when you love camping, too, as it provides a convenient vessel that will keep your drinks and some types of food cool, or in some cases, frozen for as long as you need them to be. Unlike the typical cooler that requires you to replenish the ice, a portable car fridge is plugged into your vehicle’s 12-volt electrical system to keep running. This can be convenient if you are in the middle of nowhere and there is no convenience store or shop to buy ice.

Car fridges come in different sizes to meet your needs. A larger one may mean more capacity, but the current draw will be much greater, and it will occupy more space. You need to consider the fridge’s weight when it is fully loaded, too, and make sure that it will not push your vehicle beyond its GVM (gross vehicle mass). Otherwise, it could affect fuel efficiency. So, be sure to pick a car fridge that is just right for your usual camping trips and for your vehicle. The 40L fridge is the standard size, and it can fit around 60 cans, making it ideal for a long weekend for two to three people.

A portable car fridge usually runs with the same compressor technology as the regular home fridge, except that they require a 12-volt battery. Despite the way they work, there is nothing to worry about your car battery getting drained, as they are not designed to draw a lot of current. Some fridge may be able to run on mains electricity or a solar panel, too, making them more flexible for every application. They work well, even under high ambient temperatures and hot cars, and some can function as freezers to keep some perishables or iced treats good. Consider a car fridge that works on inclines and uneven terrain.

If you are set to go on a camping trip any time soon, consider looking into the selection of car fridges from a reputable retailer. Be sure to check out the products from brands like Dometic, Camec, Bushman, Dometic Waeco, and Evacool, and compare their prices and specifications to find the perfect fridge for your needs.
