Most of the times, while updating the Windows or during new installation of a graphics card, you can face some issue while adjusting the Screen resolution on your running Windows 10 computer system. Some of the times, you are not able to get an option to change the screen resolution because of drop-down freezes or it always back to the previous resolution setting.

Alongside, your monitors also not display the native configure resolution. This post will describe how you can fix this issue if you are not able to change the screen resolution on your Windows 10.

Before starting the processor, you need to follow some basic tips:-

Open the settings section to change the screen resolution.Go to Settings> System> Display. Here you will get a drop-down box under label resolution. Please check, if you can change it to a resolution that one you want to improve as per your choice.Sometimes, it is also possible that because of some problems the display drives automatically change the screen resolution. If this process does not resolve your issue, then you can try other methods that are mentioned below.

Causes of this issue:-The main reason for this issue is drive misconfiguration.Drivers are not compatible, and they select the lower mode to set the resolution in a safe way.So first, you need to update the graphics driver or maybe the rollback to the old version.Steps to update Graphics driver:-Open the Device Manager using WIN + X + M keys.Open the Display Adapters and the select the GPU listed there.Copy and note the OEM and Model no.Download the updated version of the driver from their website.Run the downloaded driver software and install it.It will ask for a place the INF file and then install it.In case, if your driver is already updated, then you can attempt to roll back to the previously installed driver. You can only do it if you have a backup for your driver before the update or you can find one on the OEM website. The below-given steps will help you to turn on GPU scaling.

Steps to turn on GPU Scaling:- If you have an AMD graphics card or NVIDIA, then you can use the GPU scaling option. This option will help you with scaling the image so that it will fix the screen for both vertical and horizontal screen, i.e., no black borders.

AMD:-Open the AMD Radeon settings section.Click on the Display option. Here search the GPU scaling and then enable it.NVIDIA:- Open the NVIDIA control panelHere you will find the two different options.A- Change Resolution or Create New Resolution:- This option will help you to create a custom resolution for your display, but please keep the refresh rate same.

Before finalizing you can test it.it will help if you know a specific resolution is set there, but now the monitor resolution is not set up here.

B- Adjust Desktop Size:- Here you can select the between full Screen. Aspect Ration or no scaling. You can be scaling on the GPU level or just monitor. A warning will also show here while it will not show any visible signs during regular tasks like- video playback. You will get noticeable lag while playing a video game.

If your issue is only limited to specific software, then you need to access to GPU.

For that go to Settings> System> Display> Graphics Settings.

If these methods do not work, then, we will suggest you only one thing that you need to reinstall your windows and create a new account.
