Work-life balance is no more about keeping your work and life in separate boxes and then weighing them against each other to measure which of the two is less of a burden or more pleasurable. There is more to work-life balance than meets the eye because of the new working conditions and modern workspaces that have entirely changed the meaning of the term.

In the modern corporate scenario, you cannot juxtapose work and life as two separate entities of your existence where you have to give equally suitable time to both. There will be no balance at all between your professional and personal life if you think of the two as opponents of each other. With this kind of mindset, devoting time to one area will mean depriving the other.

Consider a working student who has his studies to do and also looks after his corporate affairs. If he was of the mindset that he could turn off his office mode while studying, he might be falling short of his career goals. When you train your mind to stop thinking of work as a ‘curse’ and life as a ‘blessing’, then the positive energy in you will start flowing for setting things right, and for maintaining a stable work-life balance.
