When we are thinking to buy indian wedding dresses, saree is a dress type which is inevitable. Every kinds of dress and material needs some kinds of maintenance, however, when it comes to expensive material and sarees, the burden of maintenance is even more!

Afterall, saree in Indian culture is not just a wearable but a legacy that every mother and mother in law wants to gift to the next generation with lots of love. They do this with the expectations that whenever the saree will be next worn by any generation, they will tend to remember them.

When you go ahead towards purchasing indian saree, make sure to know everything about the fabric and its maintenance procedure.

    Delicate fabric or high embellished sarees need dry washing whereas sarees in cotton and light fabric can be washed at home convenience.

  • Understand about the purity
  • To keep your saree maintenance intact, it is important to distinguish the fabric of the saree between pure, blended or faux fabric. If you buy wedding sarees online, make sure to check the fabric quality for better maintenance procedure in future. In general faux version of fabrics such as georgette, chiffon, crepe, silks are high easy to maintain and does not need much efforts as like pure fabric. Similarly sarees which are silk and cotton blended have a different, easier set of maintenance rule as compared to pure or woven silks, brocades, chiffons, georgettes etc.

    Fabric like silk needs good maintenance regime which people tend to ignore in purchase time and faces the consequence.

  • Washing at home
  • Washing sarees at home is also a type of art which should be mastered else your expensive saree can get ruined. For cleaning fabric like pure silk, georgette, chiffons needs certain care regime while washing at home. For first few washes, make sure to use only plain cold water with gentle wash for separate part of the saree. Make sure to avoid warm water, direct sunlight or any kind of rough handling that can hamper the beauty of silk. Dry it immediately and don’t keep it bundled up for a long time.

  • Dry cleaning
  • Dry cleaning is process which is conducted by certain solvents and does not affect the fabric. They are able to clean any kind of stain and leave the cloth fresh and clean. Doing this process at home can be tricky, if you are unaware about its nuances, it is better to contact a dry cleaners who holds expertise in the task.
