Besides the location, environment, the price of the apartment, there is another crucial thing you should never miss to take note of while you are renting an apartment. Measurements are extremely an important role in deciding the apartment is a good fit for you or not. Taking certain measurements ensures whether your furniture fits in the new place or not! Summarized here are the five exceptionally crucial measurements to take before you rent an apartment.

The interiors rooms of the apartment

Besides the size of the carpet area, you should also take the breadth and most importantly the height of the room into account. It applies to all the rooms’ right from the living rooms, kitchen through bedrooms to bathrooms. This might sometimes limit the movement of furniture and placements of light fixtures and cupboards. Also, measure the size of all your existing furniture so you can sell oversized furniture and buy new appropriate furniture that fits your newly moving apartment. Wherever you buy, whether the compact flats or spacious villas in Kelambakkam, measuring the interior rooms helps you in planning the perfect furniture arrangement for visually interesting interiors.

The entryway/foyer and balconies

Measuring counts the exterior portion of the house as well! Other than measuring the width and height of the entrance, measure it diagonally as well. So that you can fit large furniture through the door just like you measure the diagonal of the front door. If your apartment or villa opens up a spacious balcony or a patio, then measure the opening as well. This makes sure if you have enough space to fit the bigger furniture for the spacious patio outside your villa or apartment balcony.

The exterior hallways of your apartment

This applies to apartments only. Just like how you measured the interiors, and entryway of your apartment, it is important to measure the width and height of the exterior hallways that lead to your apartment door. Sometimes, there are apartment hallways which are too small in width that limits you to carry heavy and big furniture inside your apartment. Just add the entryway hallways to your list next to the primary and secondary doors.

The stairways of the apartment building

Instead of measuring the width and height of the stairways, measure the exterior stairways from the first step to the last step. Also, the turnings and landings of the stairway and at the end of each staircase are also important in the measurements list.

The elevators in your apartment block

Most of the regular elevators are small in size and doesn’t fit heavy furniture in it. Also, if you aren’t allowed to use the regular elevator to move your things into your apartment, then ask the manager if there is a service elevator to use it on your moving day. Most of the service elevators in apartments are large and wide to fit heavy furniture in to take to your respective floor with ease. Just like how you did before to the hallway and other doors, measure the height and width of the elevator doors as well.

Hope the above-listed measuring tips help in moving to your new rental apartment/villa anywhere in the country.
