In Singapore, more and more people are looking to buy a condominium to live in instead of living in a HDB. There have been many new condos launched in Singapore as a result to meet the demand. However, there are still many people who want to buy condos, and those who used to live in condos may want to move over to live in a new one. This will free up old condos, and many do not know which to buy? We discuss the pros and cons of both options.

Costs

Newly launched condominiums in Singapore are more expensive than resale condominiums when you need to buy it. This is because since it is new, it is cleaner and would have less problems. Many people prefer living in a brand new house as well as they do not like living where someone has lived in before. However, cheaper things would come with a catch, and that is with a resale house, the quality might not be as good as before. The paint might be chipped, the ceilings may have leaks, there may be bugs everywhere. All these problems require regular maintenance which would cost some money every month. In the long term, it might cost more than a condo that is newly launched in Singapore.

Design and Layout

Older condominiums are bigger than the newer condominiums in Singapore. However, older condominiums in Singapore do not have the fresh and modern design that newly launched condominiums do. When the older condominiums were build, they were built according to styles that were trendy then. However, newer condominiums are more creative and modern, giving you a positive vibe. Older condominiums would require a renovation to keep up with modern concepts of architectural design.

Location

In Singapore, it is quite small and we have public transport everywhere. However, many of us do not have our own cars and need the public transport to move around in Singapore. Hence, we need to find a house that is conveniently located next to an MRT or at least near a bus stop. Singapore is always building more MRTs so that travelling around in Singapore is faster and easier. Many of the newly launched condominiums would be built next to an upcoming MRT so it is very convenient. Furthermore, the new MRTs would probably be underground as the most recent ones are. This way, there would be minimal noise pollution from trains moving at night. Older condominiums would also be next to an MRT, but many of them would be above the ground. The noise would cause previous owners to move to a newer and better condominium in Singapore.

Facilities

Launch New condo in Singapore typically have newer, better and more facilities compared to older condos. This is because back when condominiums started getting popular, only the most basic facilities were installed, like a gymnasium and a pool. Now, however, condominiums can have restaurants, saunas, spas, and other such facilities. Newer condominiums aim to give people the best and most luxurious experience while staying there. Different newly launched condominiums have different facilities available, so you should find one that fits you. The facilities in older condominiums would also be worse due to time and wear and tear. The maintenance may not be as good, and may not even be working properly. Hence, if you find yourself using the facilities often, you should go for a newly launched condominium.

Ask An Expert

If you are looking for a newly launched condominium in Singapore, you should consult an expert on what fits you the most and whether a house is good or worth it. There are also many things you should check on and look for when looking at a condominium to buy. Hence, an expert can help you look for a condominium that best fits you.
