Started in the 14th century in Italy, any long, loose, robe-like garment was termed as a gown and was usually worn by students while graduating from university. Slowly from Italy, it got introduced to America in the 17th century and that was the time when the whole scenario of the gowns got changed. The gown was no longer just a dress, it became a fashion statement. Soon it got expanded in the whole world and now it is one of the major fashion trends. Now, rather than going to the market, one can easily get online party wear gowns in India. Some most common types of party wear gowns are as follows:

The skirt of the gown is very poofy, which hides the lower body and suits the best to the pear-shaped body. From fairy tales princesses to the top celebrities, ball gowns can be found in everyone’s wardrobe nowadays.

It is highly appreciated for giving the wearer a royal look.

Types of Fabrics Used

The gowns have an enticing appearance and yet highly comfortable, all thanks to the quality of fabrics which is used in making them. Some of the most common types of fabrics are:

  • Chiffon: Chiffon is a lightweight plain-woven fabric that has mesh-like weave and a quite transparent look. The word chiffon was originated from French that simply means cloth. It is a blend of cotton, silk or various synthetic fibers like nylon, polyester, rayon, etc.
  • Silk: It is a natural fiber and can easily be woven into textiles. The silk is produced from fibroin that is produced by silkworms larvae while they form their cocoon. Silk has a lustrous surface that is soft textured and extremely smooth.
  • Tulle: Tulle is a netted fabric that can be made from a wide range of fabrics like silk, nylon, and rayon. It has a soft and fragile appearance, whilst actually being a strong fabric that keeps a tight hold on its shape.
