Wind- A Viable Option for Producing Electricity.
Posted: Jul 27, 2018
Electric power is an important aspect of our everyday lives. However, for many years we have exploited the fossil sources of energy to generate power. One disadvantage of this source of energy is that it is not renewable besides other disadvantages like environmental pollution and fears of getting depleted in the near future. Considering environmental, social, economic and financial factors wind power holds an advantage over other sources.
Wind power is produced using generators that use renewable wind energy as their primary source of power. They utilize kinetic energy from flowing wind and convert it into electric energy through the use of motors. For over 400 years wind power has continuously gained traction as a popular alternative source of energy supplementing other sources like solar energy and hydroelectric power.
A generator utilizing the wind can produce huge amounts of energy, nearly around 3000 watts and sometimes more. They have a variety of useful applications and are commonly used by farms and industries to generate electricity. These generators are highly useful in areas where there are high winds. The three main largest producers of wind power are the United States, Spain, and Germany Wind power is extremely useful as it is clean, free and has a limitless and renewable supply. Governments of various countries are providing tax incentives to encourage the use of renewable and environment-friendly resources to produce electricity.
Wind power generation technologies have been available for decades and these are now offered easily thanks to new incentives taken by the top turbine manufacturing industries, top slip ring assembly manufacturers, and electric generator manufacturers. These stakeholders are coming up with new systems and innovative technologies to help shape wind energy from a new perspective.
Though generating wind power is cheaper and advantageous, there are still some factors to consider before building generators or purchasing them. This is because this type of generator can only function in areas which have high winds. The first factor is to determine the amount of energy required. If a small amount is required then it can be used in areas where there is less wind. Portable wind generators are available to be used for this purpose. Greater energy needs mean the amount and power of wind needs to be measured before placing a large wind turbine.
One great advantage with wind energy is that it comes as a clean source of energy. The energy harnessed is actually due to solar energy as the sun's radiation gives rise to the wind. The wind then produces kinetic energy which means that there is no bi-product produced, hence preventing pollution. This is because no fuel is burned and therefore there is no need to purchase or maintain any fuel and only wind is required. Although there is plenty of wind which can be used humans have barely made a dent in its potential usage. Wind power was usually used to operate mills, sailboats, water pumps, saws etc.
It was in the twentieth century that a generator was designed to produce saleable raw electricity through the use of the wind. These generators are mostly placed on top of buildings and housing associations may have some rules because they will stand out. The regulations of the local utility company also have to be checked to ensure that there is no restriction on using wind power to produce extra energy.
If you want to buy slip ring capsule, contact Moflon Technology
Slip rings are an essential component of wind turbines. They facilitate effective transmission of signals and electric power from stationary cables in nacelle to the rotating parts. Here’s a guide to buying them.
