Creative writing is anything written with the purpose of expressing thoughts, feelings, and emotions, rather than to just impart information. It is a difficult art to master since there is always room for improvement. One of the many ways to come close to mastering this art form is to enroll in a BA college in Surat or another city where they focus on creative writing along with other subjects.

However, when it comes to being a creative writer, practice really does make one perfect. If you are a novelist, poet, biographer or an aspiring beginner, here is what you should avoid to improve upon your craft.

1. Don’t Stop Reading

A writer who doesn't read other writings is in big trouble. To become a better writer it's important to know how and reading books by other writers is the key. If you want to be a novelist, read novels. If you are a poet, read poetry. To stop reading is to ensure insufficient growth in your own writing skills.

2. Don’t Plagiarize

It's easy to assume that you won’t be tempted to plagiarize someone else's work, but the temptation to copy-paste someone else’s story and calling it yours is real. You could also reword someone else’s work and call it your own. However, that does nothing but harm your reputation and credibility with readers.

3. Don’t Use Big Words

A few decades ago books were constantly written in flowery prose and readers didn’t mind. However, these days the attention span of readers are shorter and they don’t want to read a book filled with ambiguous words and complicated prose. Give them an amazing story that is written in short, simple and punchy sentences.

Sitting down to write can sometimes make you doubt your writing skills, but shut down those voices in your head. Yes, it takes time to perfect the art of writing, but it's doable. The best tip to improve your skills is to practice and practice some more. Along with that, enroll in a BA course from the best university in Gujarat or another state. It will not only improve your writing but also help you understand a wide range of topics that can help you write that perfect book or poem.
