Waste management is one of the issues that have the whole society concerned. As we live in a world where people do not even take the time to throw garbage into the garbage cans or dustbins, the world is becoming filthier at a growing speed. People take care of the cleanliness of their cars and houses but not the streets. We don’t care how the waste is managed or disposed off as long as we do not have to clean it up.

Carelessness like this has become a major issue in today’s world. It is not just about the cleanliness of the streets anymore. Waste management has become a global issue and so has climate change as a resultant. Even though some companies like Calgary Recycling are doing their part for the world, it is high time that we all start to take some responsibility and make the environment a better place. Here are some easy and effective ways for waste management. Read on to know more:

1. Separate the garbage

It is necessary that the waste management be taken care of the initial stages so that the rest of the procedure can be carried out smoothly. You must separate your garbage into organic and inorganic. There are other categories too, such as metal, glass, paper, wood, food, etc. This categorisation largely depends on the location of the residents. If you live on or near a farm, you will have to separate the garbage into organic and inorganic. If you live in the cities, you need to separate it into all others. It must be remembered that everything can be used for something else. This means that something that may be useless at the moment to you may have the ability to be recycled into some other useful product.

2. Reduce the use of plastics

Plastic is one of the components that are hard to decompose. This leads to it contaminating the environment and thus, everything else. This is why governments in all the countries have been making and imposing the regulations to eliminate the use of plastic bags and other plastic products whose substitutes can be employed. In fact, in the earlier times, plastic bags were not in use at all. People used wooden boxes, banana leaves and even newspapers to wrap the items. This indeed was an effective way.

3. Reusing the reusable containers

We all must have heard about the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. These are taught in the primary education years, and unfortunately, most of us forget about it when we grow up. Reusing the plastic, glass, or metal containers is a key technique for waste management. There are very simple things that can be done. For an instance, a plastic Frisbee toy can be used as a bird feeder. Also, old ice cream sticks can be used for school arts and crafts projects. Reusing is really just that simple. It takes very little effort to save the environment if we all unite for it.
