Points to consider while buying a wireless home security camera
If you are planning to purchase a security camera, there are many things you must consider and research about before your purchase such as the picture quality, footage access, data storage, ease of installation, alerts, and night vision.
1. Picture quality
Picture quality is the primary factor people consider while purchasing a CCTV camera. This may differ depending on the purpose. If you are installing the camera to monitor your baby, you might not need a high definition camera as compared to monitoring the surroundings of your house.
2. Footage access
You can access your footage either from the smartphone or the web browser. You can select according to the purpose. You can even play back the videos and play those memories.
3. Data storage
Footage can be stored either on a hard drive or the cloud. Though hard drive storage is more accessible and cheaper, you may be unable to recover your data once it is lost, stolen or damaged. Data stored in the cloud is a much safer option.
4. Ease of installation
You might have the option of mounting your camera on any shelf, ceiling or wall. It is easy to install them, and if not, the company will do it for you.
5. Alerts
Buy a wireless system which can detect motion and alert you via your smartphone the second it detects movements. If a home security system doesn’t have this feature, it is not worth your cash.
6. Night vision
Make sure that your camera is capable of adjusting brightness according to the amount of light. This ensures that you don’t miss a thing may it be day or night.
7. Angle
Some might want a wide angle to capture every inch of their home. You may even consider the tilt function in some cameras which can be controlled remotely.
Some brands incorporate the latest technology and offer features such as the two-way speaker and microphone set-up, video and image sharing. Just make sure that you buy from a reputable brand, and you are good to go.
