When it comes to smartphones, Huawei has been launching a lot of dependable models over the past couple of years under the Honor brand. Further, the ‘X’ series offers a more affordable line of smartphones, especially for those who are looking for something in the Rs. 10,000 – 15,000 price segments. The Honor 7X is one such dependable model from Huawei, and comes at a very interesting time. It is a successor to the Honor 6X, which was a very reliable and sturdy smartphone that delivered all-round performance. Now, when you have a model that comes after such a good phone, you know that the expectations will be pretty high. It starts at Rs.12,999 and sports a good line up of features and specifications. So maybe you won’t have to worry about borrowing a personal loan to finance your purchase. But is that enough to make this a good buy? Let’s find out.

In terms of the design, the phone feels good when it’s in your hand thanks to its metal body and curved edges. There’s a metal body that Huawei has incorporated which lends the phone a premium feel to the 7X. The display is an impressive 5.93" with an 8MP camera in the front. In terms of the processor, we already know that most of Honor’s smartphones run on Huawei-made processors. The 7X is no different, because it runs on the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC, which is the same processor that powers the Honor 9i. There is the custom EMUI 5.1 skin on the Android Nougat. The 7X also has two variants when it comes to storage, but with the same RAM capacity – there’s one model with 4GB RAM and 32 GB storage and the other variant has 64 GB of storage. The 7X is fairly decent in terms of performance, but its battery leaves a lot to be desired. Constant gaming (or maybe a long session) does leave the phone really warm and drains the battery as well. The camera isn’t that impressive either, but considering the tall 18:9 display and the fact that this iss an up-to-date phone, it’s not that bad. Also, the phone’s not that expensive, so you won’t need an instant personal loan any time soon even if you want to buy the 7X.
