We found this beauty as we were leaving the hotel on our way to Iguazu Falls.

Anyway, we saw this beauty one morning during our time at the top of a canopy tower in the rain forest of Brazil. You typically get up will before dawn, drive and/or hike to the tower, climb up the tower in twilight hoping to get up to the top at or before sunrise.

We found this beauty as we were leaving the hotel on our way to Iguazu Falls. Aracaris and Toucans are closely related and have those great long beaks that are normally very colorful and intricately patterned. They are fantastic birds to watch!

I realized today that I never did quite finish my 7 Day Wildlife Challenge before the holidays, so this is my final day 7 - : I was nominated by +Robin Griggs Wood to take up the #ChallengeWildlifePhotography and publish a different nature photo for the next 7 days.

That way you can get a great view over the tops of the trees as the sun rises plus you'll be in place as the birds become active and start their day. It is a great way (or perhaps the only way) to see many of the birds in the rain forest. The trees are so tall and dense that you never see the canopy dwellers while hiking in the forest. julie ertz jersey

Here's a fun fact for you: Woodpeckers are found worldwide except for Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, and Madagascar...

Have a great weekend everyone!

This beautiful pair of Hyacinth Macaws kept us entertained one morning at breakfast during our visit to the Pantanal in Brazil. So wonderful to watch them from such a close vantage point!

See this post for some other info and fun facts about these macaws:

Every time we go in or out of our hotel at Iguazu Falls on the Brazil side, I'd check the planters in front for hummingbirds. I found them out there several times, but normally early in the morning before it got too crazy hot - you can hardly blame them as that is the only time any sane person would be outside!

Not sure of the type of hummer this is, but I always love the challenge of getting a decent photo of these beauties. Get outside today and enjoy some nature!

This female Anna's hummingbird was happily flitting around the flowers and enjoying a little snack. I could easily sit and watch them all day...

Have a wonderful week everyone - go out and enjoy! alex morgan jersey

A couple of months ago, I was lucky enough to see this beautiful Greater Roadrunner during an early morning hike. It was a little foggy and overcast that morning, but that gave a nice soft light to bring out those beautiful colors on his body and tail.

Hope you are all having a great week, it's almost the weekend.

We came across this beauty late one afternoon during our trip to the Pantanal in Brazil. I think he was on the lookout for a dinner snack as he took off soon after this shot to chase after something in the field.

Hope you are making the most of your week everyone, enjoy it!
