.Net framework has matured significantly over the past few years and is perhaps one of the best web frameworks out there to develop secure, fast, enterprise web applications. With an object oriented code execution environment, it becomes pretty easy for developers to execute code safely, simplify software deployment and minimize performance issues and versioning conflicts. As a result, professionals have started taking full advantage of the framework in order to make user experience delivered at its best by various types of apps consistent.

However, Microsoft has been updating.Net framework at regular intervals in order to accelerate app development needs. Last year, the tech giant had released .NET Framework 4.7.1 with a number of enhancements and improvements. Today professionals can access the version as a part of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. In fact, they can even run the latest version of the software development platform on Windows 7+ and Windows Server 2008 R2+.

Improvements made in.Net framework 4.7.1 include:

  • Built-in Support for.NET Standard 2.0• Garbage Collection (GC) Performance Improvement• Configuration Builders• ASP.NET Forms Authentication• ASP.NET Execution Step Feature• ASP.NET HttpCookie Parsing• Compiler Improvements• Accessibility Improvements• New WPF Features

Then came:.Net Framework 4.8

This year entered.Net framework 4.8, it provides improvements in workflow while also offering important fixes. Although the framework is expected to ship in 2019 but the beta build is already in talks.

Certain features planned for.Net framework 4.8 include:

  1. The hashtag algorithm, it is used to generate XOML file checksums which can be used by.Net developers to build projects with the same. Developers can use the previous algorithm in case, if the new one causes any problems.
  2. The hashtag algorithm is also used for calculating keys to internal memory caches has been modified. But that doesn’t mean developers won’t be able to use previous algorithms.
  3. Do you remember the memory leak issue? It has been fixed now. Which means it won’t affect HttpWebRequest when communicating with an HTTPS server through a proxy
  4. For windows forms, enabled labels are now rendered using a high contrast text color whenever a high-contrast mode is enabled.
  5. With Windows presentation foundation, a memory leak has been fixed that used to arise while removing data items from parent collections when UIAutomation was present.
  6. Lastly, the accessibility problem in windows communication foundation has been successfully fixed that had previously caused ComboBox controls to be incorrectly themed in high-contrast themes.

Wrapping it up,

Being a.Net development company, we are eagerly waiting for the final version of.Net framework 4.8. In fact, we strongly believe that it would make a huge impact in terms of development and deployment of an application.
