Like all medical studies, dentistry too requires a lot of effort and hard work, so that one can pass the exams and become a good dentist. Many students find it very difficult and often get stressed due to the huge pressure. To help out the students with their dental studies, we share some of the best tips to help them get going and perform the best in their exams.

Make a study plan & schedule

Studying without a proper plan and timetable often leads to missing study sessions, cramming the day before the exams and even unfinished projects sometimes. Due to this you will also find yourself getting stressed and eventually getting very less studies done. If you are undergoing dental courses in Delhi or any other city in India, one of the first things you must do is make a proper study schedule. This schedule should be similar to the timetable you used to follow in your higher school days.

You should plan your schedule in a way that you keep all the tough subjects for the days you have less classes. Less important subjects should be scheduled for those days when you have many classes or practical sessions related to dentistry to attend in your college. It’s important not to get too stressed if you can’t stick to the timetable completely, as long as you are in control of things and are covering all the subjects adequately. Keep updating your study plan every few days so that you can check how much you have finished and how much is left to do.

Disconnect and find a good study space

Select a place that is quiet and comfortable to study in or you may feel distracted and not be able to concentrate on your studies. Once you have selected the place to study in, make sure that there are distractions close by. If there is a TV nearby, ensure that it is switched off when you are studying. Also keep your phone and laptop away, when you are studying so that you are not tempted to check it every few minutes.

Organise and summarize your work

One of the first things to do before you start studying is to plan your studies in an organised manner, normally as per the exam paper layout, when you take BDS admission in UP. This will help you to revise your subjects more easily and also keep a specific focus on the areas with high marks. Also make it a point to first go through all the notes that you have made at the dental college as well all your medical reference books. From these you can then pick out easily all the important points so that you can understand the subject easily. If you do this, you won’t need to look for the meaning of difficult terms and words later. Also make it a point to convert the most important information into a format that is very easy to read or understand for you. This could be in the form of an audio recording, flash cards, diagrams etc.

Keep reviewing and revising

Once you have covered the entire syllabus, start revising all the topics, so that you ensure you have not missed out on anything. Similarly, when it comes to actual practical’s try to get as much practice as possible so that you are through with all the necessary procedures and treatment techniques.
