Not many people are aware of the fact that eating cakes and cupcakes have numerous benefits. Do not believe us? Read on:

  1. Provide energy- carbohydrates are one of the major sources of energy in plenty of foods. Cakes and cupcakes are generally made by mixing flour and sugar together, which are excellent sources of carbohydrates. Easy healthy cake provides sufficient amount of energy to the entire body, including muscles, brain, and nervous system. In fact, when consumed in moderation, the fats present in cakes can also be great sources of energy.
  2. Facilitates body building and gives strength- they are also rich in proteins, as they contain milk and eggs. Milk in fact is a major source of calcium which improves the functionality of bones and teeth. Also, cakes that are baked with dry fruits such as almond, cashew nuts, etc. can supply a good quantity of vitamins, thereby strengthening the immune system.
  3. Improves digestion- cakes which contain fruits such as berries, pineapples, and apples are a good source of fibre. Fibre-rich foods are known to improve our digestive system, and also minimise the risk of heart diseases.

4. Helps in slimming down- Yes, you read that right! According to a study conducted few years ago, eating a dessert, including healthy birthday cake alternatives, as a part of a balanced 600-calorie breakfast helps dieters lost weight. However, make sure you have it in the first half, and not later in the day, as metabolism is faster in the morning hours.

5. Aids in beating depression- cake has traditionally been a food of celebration, friendship, sharing, joy, and so on! It is served at weddings, birthdays, get-togethers, and often simply as a conduit to bring the "team" together in the workplace. It would not be an overstatement to say that people often connect and bond over cakes, thus keeping depression at bay.

Light cake recipes cannot in the least be termed as "junk food". This symbol of joy and celebration, the conveyor of history, culture, and tradition, and simply as a token of love, belonging and social occasion can hardly be done away with! The advisable thing is to eat cake, not as a substitute for real food of course, but as a normal part of life and living.
