The Peugeot 208 GTi Edition Definitive is now available as a limited edition run to mark the end of this current phase of 208 GTi production. This Peugeot Australia release has added a host of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades to make the 208 GTi even more exciting. The pint sized hot hatch is sure to be in high demand, but sadly the production run has been strictly set, and only 20 models will be available here. Let’s take a closer look at what this car has to offer for the dedicated Aussie petrolhead that’s lucky enough to get one.

A General Overview

The Peugeot 208 GTi Edition Definitive will be a collectors car in years to come, and it’s replete with exciting features. As such, it should come as no surprise that this is a premium end car with a price tag to match.

The first thing that you will notice is the exterior which is a Pearl White paint that is highlighted with matt black touches. Each C-pillar has "Peugeot Sport" badging, the front is 22mm wider and the rear 16mm wider. The ride height has been lowered by 10mm, and there are unique damper and spring rates for this release.

The car has a set of 19" alloy wheels that are also finished in matt black. These wheels are slightly wider than the parent car, and they are fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. Behind each rim, you can clearly see the 323mm Brembo brake calipers, at the front they are red and at the rear grey. The overall impression is that the Peugeot 208 GTi Edition Definitive looks ever sportier than the standard 208 GTi.

Under the Bonnet

Here we can find a Torsen mechanical limited slip front differential system. There is an autonomous emergency braking system that is the first seen on any GTi model sold in Australia. The active safety system will even operate at speed up to 30 km/hr to help avoid low speed collisions with pedestrians and other vehicles.

The Peugeot 208 GTi Edition Definitive gets a bespoke exhaust, and the throttle calibration has been tweaked to improve the responsiveness and driveability throughout the entire revving range. This has helped to reduce the 0-100km/hr time from 6.8 to 6.5 seconds without altering the 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine at all.
