A very important, yet ignored stage of the writing process is proofreading. The proofreading process helps in making a copy free of errors. Now, this method concentrates mainly on correcting the mistakes. There are a number of errors that a proofreader omits while writing an my custom essay or any other assignment.

What are the errors that a professional removes when an individual asks, "proofread my essay"?

Usually, the various types of errors that are seen in a document are: grammatical, typographical, and linguistic.

There are several online professional services available for those individuals who wonder, "Where can I buy custom essay?" The experts of these services are capable of finding all the errors that one makes in a copy.

Common errors have been discussed in detail:

  • Grammatical errors- There are many sub-categories of this type of error: spelling, syntax, sentence formation, subject-verb agreement, punctuation, etc.
  • Spelling mistakes- This is probably the most common type of grammatical error that almost everybody makes, especially the students. It can happen due to the lack of grammatical knowledge or because of confusion between two similar sounding words.
  • Syntax errors- This error occurs in a sentence when the grammatical rule is not followed. For example, the line "Me is studying now." has a syntax error in it.
  • Sentence formation error- This is another type of grammatical error that is quite common. This mistake can again be classified into commas, fragments, and run-ons.
  • Error in subject-verb agreement- A sentence’s subject and verb should always agree with each other in terms of their number, i.e., singular or plural. When this doesn’t happen, the subject-verb agreement error occurs.
  • Punctuation- Another common grammatical error happens with the punctuation. It can happen when a comma remains missing following an introductory element, the wrong use of the apostrophe, an absence of the comma in a compound sentence, etc.
  • Typographical errors- This error occurs when one types ‘teh’ instead of ‘the’. It can be seen that these mistakes change the whole meaning of the sentence. Small mistakes like the example given above can be easily understood, but, in case of complicated words, it becomes difficult for the proof-reader to understand the meaning. In the typographical mistakes, errors like inserting inverted commas, hyphens in the wrong place, spaces in between an acronym, etc. also occur. This is the kind of error that most individuals miss out on. It is because the human brain tricks us and makes us think what they are reading is correct.
  • Linguistic- This type of mistake happens mainly due to confusion or due to a lack of grammatical knowledge. When an individual cannot find the right word to convey his/her message. The confusion between ‘whom’ and ‘who’, not knowing when to use ‘that’ and ‘when’ and ‘which’, the application of ‘would have’, etc. can be some of the reasons for making this type of mistake.
If one wants to proofread his/her own or other’s copies, then, he/she must learn to detect these errors.
