Does Technology Make Us More Alone?
Posted: Sep 26, 2018
I cannot think of anything else besides telling you an incident which is completely relevant to the aforementioned question. ‘My grandfather hosts a get together for his friends on weekends and on the last weekend the routine continued as well. So, they started talking about "their" time when TV was a rare case in the houses, where they never thought that they would ever be able to talk to their families face-to-face just by making few taps on the screen of their smartphones, well forget about video-calls, they never thought that would carry a portable phone in their hands.
Well, that brings me to the question "Does technology make us more alone?"
In my opinion, the answer is a white NO, because one cannot blame everything on the technology. Technology is often criticized by giving a statement"technology and these gizmos are keeping kids from playing outdoor games" unfortunately, most of the people do neglect the fact that the even in their times some of the kids never wished to play and they enjoyed watching others play, and here the case is same as these kids also have their personal reasons to not to play.Let’s talk about Bollywood as we are habitual of watching movies where parents get betrayed by their son once he leaves the country, he does not contact them on call or by any other medium, no doubt a typical Bollywood
movie of 90s but let’s see the reality in this era, my father video calls me just to ensure that I am near home when I say that "I will be there in 10 minutes". I do not have to leave my house to get my work done whether it is my studies or I need to get Dhaniya(Coriander), everything under few taps and above all I don’t have to go alone or leave my mother alone at home.Being optimistic, I see that side of this coin which brings me closer to the world, my friends and my family, I do not need to send the letters anymore just like my father used to when he did not know about the phone. Now, it can be a dangerous thing if you are so submerged in your mobile that you get lazy or attract few heart diseases, I mean the real disease, not what you are thinking.
