Interior designing is no easy walk. And according to several studies around 40% public make their purchase decision as soon as they enter the store. Whether you have a small space or a large one, making the most of it by designing a clean, beautiful and efficient in-store environment is the best thing to do. Of course, you will find millions of different ways when it comes to enhancing your retail store furniture design but that doesn’t mean you require to use everything by contemplating an expensive overhaul. A few small yet cost-effective changes might work wonders.

1. Start with Decluttering

When it’s about small businesses, less is more. No matter how counterintuitive it sounds, living in a sales per square foot kind of world is not as easy as it seems. Your retail sales per square footage affect your store’s revenue especially if your retail store design is messy or crowded, you are going to drive customers away. In web designing, there is a concept of paying more attention to white space. That space is around the text and images that you’re hoping to draw attention to. Having too little white space means the reader’s eye can’t focus on the thing. Too much white space and you’ll find yourself missing an opportunity to communicate something unique and fun about your brand and your business.

The same principle applies to your store’s window displays as well.

2. Paint an accent wall

Painting one wall a bold color is pretty much affordable and effective. This not only spice up the space but also make it look longer. It may quite interest you to know that creating a bold colored wall can create the illusion of receding in space. Another way to achieve the same effect is that putting colorfully printed fabric or wallpaper on one of your walls. You can even add eye-catching textures and patterns to your store.

3. Adjust Your Lighting Design

Another quick and cheap way of improving the look of an older store is to replace all light bulbs. As the bulb age, they can give off a more yellow-brownish light rather than a crisp white-yellow light. After all, consumers respond well to this kind of lighting because they can assess the quality and color of your wares more easily.

Unfortunately, lighting is overlooked by a lot of stores. Whether its Edison lights, uplighting, spotlighting, track lighting can be used to a great extent to draw the attention of the end user. By incorporating such elements you can also setting the scene in your store.

Stylish Retail Design Stores to Take into Account

With the increasing hype of online shopping, bricks and mortar stores are bound to deliver more than just goods. Yes, customers have started looking for experiential, beautifully designed mastershops that compel visitors to enter their doors. Further, I would like to mention a few highly intimidating retail spaces found across the globe.

1. Filling Station Motel (FSM), Udine

The store incorporates a garage look. Conceived and designed by design studio Visual Display the space has been well established in the northeastern Italian city of Udine. After taking inspiration from the original ‘Agip’ motels, support services for large petrol stations. The space has replaced gas pumps with midcentury modern furniture. However, some elements remain as they are such as a motorcycle workshop that performs repairs and customization projects in line with the FSM brand. Right from two-wheelers to cycling ephemera, helmets and tools, everything is incorporated here.

2. Store X, Berlin, Germany

After London and Cotswolds locations, this store, in particular, was opened first in Berlin in February 2014, spanning two floors of the Soho House building in Mitte. After that, the store has evolved into a huge lifestyle concept space featuring a creative edit of fashion, furniture, art, music, and books. Store X has launched the Studios, this is a home to a cultural programme showcasing works from contemporary artists, musicians, and designers, with a focus on those with a commitment to innovation.

3. Bonds Hackney, London

The former carpentry workroom located in east London has now been transformed into a rustic concept boutique that beautifully dodges- all-too-common trope of shabby chic. The space has been respectfully fitted to make the most of the bare bones of the building, flaunting exposed red brick walls and an aged wooden floor. Flexibility was a key- the shop and adjoining studio are now used to house everything from candle making workshops to life-drawing classes. Here’s the proof that even a specialist candle connoisseur can become a fully-formed lifestyle brand.
