Bhubaneswar:A girl student of CV Raman College of Engineering in the city allegedly committed suicide late Thursday. The deceased, Ankita Jena, was a second year student in the civil engineering stream of the college.

Ankita’s body was found inside her hostel room. Sources said that college authorities informed Tomando police station about the incident around 12.30am.

Some of her friends informed the police that she was under severe pressure due to collection of excess fees by the college authorities. Some also alleged that she might have taken the extreme step as the college administration had debarred her from appearing in the semester exams.

However, the college authorities have rubbished all the allegations and said that Jena was a meritorious student who got admission through scholarship quota a month back. So there is no question about pressurising her for money, they added. Moreover, they pointed out that the information about her being debarred from exams was also wrong as she had joined the college a month back through lateral entry.

She had not blamed anyone in her suicide note in which she had asked forgiveness from her father, sources said. Sources added that in the suicide note Ankita wrote, "Papa I am sorry, I am in extreme pain and cannot bear it anymore." It also came to the fore that she had been suffering from some skin ailment for which she was taking medication for the last ten years.

Ankita’s body was taken to AIIMS for post-mortem. Meanwhile, her brother and father have lodged a complaint with the Tomando police, but they did not accuse the college authority for her tragic end, Bhubaneswar:A girl student of CV Raman College of Engineering in the city allegedly committed suicide late Thursday.
