Being an Indian woman, you must have experienced those tiny special moments in life when you were appreciated for having an extraordinary saree collection. We all love to buy sarees online and never fail to flaunt them in style. Be it a wedding ceremony, festival, or an occasion, this stunning five to nine yards piece of cloth has the capacity to make the wearer look second to none. Ask any Indian woman about her timeless possessions, and she’ll without thinking twice point towards her wardrobe. Your trunk full of sarees is no less than a treasure for life, and you ought to preserve this treasure trove for many more years to come. To keep the shine and texture of this exquisite garment intact, follow the tips mentioned below and get ready to garner bag full of compliments all over again.

  • Some of your sarees might be really precious and embellished in embroideries, sequins, heavy stonework, zardosi, and zari. You might have worn them occasionally, isn’t it? But did you ever think how to take care of them? Well, it’s important for you to understand that your expensive designer sarees need extra care and gentle washing for long-lasting beauty and to avoid tripping of studs and stones engraved in them. You always have an option of calling a dry cleaner, but if you don’t want to take any risk, then give a gentle wash to your sarees at home. Soak them in a mild washing solution or detergent for 15 minutes and do not wring them so hard. Let them dry in shade and hang them rightfully without overlapping. Make sure you don’t use many clips on them.
  • We often use metal hangers to hang our sarees. Well, don’t do it especially when it’s a silk beauty. To store them in a proper manner, cover them in a cotton cloth or bag which prevents fungal growth on them. Find out a dark cool corner of your cupboard and place them carefully. If you think any of your silk saree has lost its shine, then wash it in one-fourth cup distilled white vinegar mixed in water. Make sure you rinse it well to prevent any sort of damage. Silica gel can also be used to avoid humidity which is enough to spoil your priceless heirlooms.
  • Like we already said, a woman takes out her high-priced saree when she has to flaunt it on a special occasion or a party. But in every six months, you must take them out and keep them in mild sunlight for not more than two hours. By doing this, you will be able to maintain their shine and color. Moreover, this will help you keep them from fungus and oppressive odour which usually comes in garments if they’ve been kept in a closet for a longer period of time.
  • You have to be extra careful with chiffon and georgette sarees as they are vulnerable to wear and tear. Never wrap them too tight and use too many safety pins while draping them because if they get stretched beyond a point, they will tear off. As they are created out of delicate material, make sure you wash them at home with a mild detergent in cold water. If you can spot a stubborn stain on any of your chiffon saree, then never rub it hard and straightaway go to a dry cleaner.

By taking good care of your most loved possessions, you will be able to doll yourself up in your exquisite saree collection for several years. The better you care for this stunning garment, the longer it will stay with you.
