Bollards are a fantastic tool for marking the edge of a boundary, protecting infrastructure and limiting access to buildings. This can be done in many cases without impacting on the aesthetic appeal and yet still providing top notch security. However, the most common area where we see bollard in use in our daily lives is on our roads, in our workplaces and when we park our car. All of these types of locations can be fitted with fixed bollards that are often made from plastic to offer a light physical barrier and visual aid to follow. Many of the most versatile bollards are removable bollards that can be placed temporary and removed afterward. A hot new type in this category is the T-top bollard, let’s take a close look at why this is so different and what it has to offer.

What is a T-Top Bollard?

Essentially, this is a pole like bollard with a broad base used for temporary warnings and to mark boundaries. As such, it offers little in the way of protection, but it’s a great way to convey a warning or message to drivers and pedestrians. The t-top bollards are named after the distinctive "T-shaped" lug that is found at the top of the bollard. It’s this clever lug that makes this bollard quite different from the other light bollards on the market. It’s actually more like a modular bollard system that can be adapted quickly to suit differing needs.

The T-Shaped Lug

This is an amazingly versatile feature that allows you to configure the T-top bollard in a wide variety of ways. This is an aftermarket feature; there is no need to add any of the features that we will discuss here at the time of ordering. If you see a feature that is useful, you can order it later and expand the capabilities of you T-top bollards.

Signage: The T-top bollard can be fitted with a frame that can house a customised message or warning. This sign can be the entire height of the bollard or limited to a sign on top. They give you a lot of real estate to write pretty much anything that will be useful for your customers and employees.

A Barrier: There are many interlocking plastic barriers available, but there are often quite limited in scope and cannot be used for other tasks at different times. A crosspiece can be fitted to the T-top bollard to turn it into a rudimentary fence for light vehicular and pedestrian traffic management. There are also plastic chains that can be fitted for an even lighter barrier if that’s more appropriate.

Visibility and Storage: As one would expect from a plastic bollard a T-top bollard can be made in a wide variety of colours. This will significantly increase the visibility for use during the day, at night or in low light conditions. A T-top bollards can be easily stacked, it’s light and easy to deploy by a single person with no special training or tools.
