To HRD colleagues who will or have just moved to a new company, it is usually rather difficult to map labor problems in new companies because each company has a culture and problems that are different from the old workplace. Even though you have experience in the field of HRD, in a new place you still have to study again and need to do orientation.

HR problems are very complex and multi-dimensional problems. There cannot be any labor problems that arise, can be solved with the same strategy as your previous experience. Need creativity and new tips to deal with it. Unless the problem is clearly stipulated in a Company Regulation or Labor Law, of course the solution is standard.

Below I will try to share experiences for alternative solutions on how to prepare for new situations as HRD Officers. Hopefully it can be useful. Minimum can to increase knowledge.

Before the action takes policy steps or takes action, you should dig up as much information as possible. Do a problem mapping and mapping the production process from upstream to downstream in the new company.

Mapping problems can be done by:Listen to complaints from the Company Management or from the owner directly about the hope of improving the labor administration system, enforcing discipline, and desired work productivity.Listen to suggestions, criticisms or complaints from other department friends who are at your level. Why did the HRD Officer leave the Company before.Listen to complaints and suggestions from the local Trade Union Management while getting acquainted, so that we can get balanced information. Are minimum labor rights in accordance with the applicable Labor Law.Global mapping of the production process can be done by:Identify each raw material needed and each end result. Is it in the form of semi-finished goods or finished product goods.Where the products are marketed. Is it enough in the country alone or to be exported abroad. How to process from raw materials to become goods that are ready to be marketed. No need to know in detail about the technicalities of doing it but enough to know each stage of the work. From one part to another until ready to export.

To get clear information about the global production process, it is necessary to go to all parts / departments within the company while getting acquainted. If the company has a large enough factory, schedule one week to complete. Includes all related support departments. So that it is expected that in less than two weeks, you as a new Officer will be able to master the existing problems. If necessary, make a complete and integrated work program as a guideline for the policy steps to be taken. So that your future work can be directed systematically.

In accordance with the topic of the posting this time, the most important thing in my experience is to explore our ability to map the global process (global process maping) of the company that we have just occupied. Because of this mapping activity you know many problems in each part and know a lot of people in the factory.

Global mapping can be done in a concise manner using a minimum technical visio program in 2002. The results will be displayed on one sheet of A4 paper. With this view, you will easily be able to follow (connect) in any formal conversation (in the meeting room) with other Management Staff or talk in meetings with Workers' Union Managers.

Besides that, the appearance of global process mapping can be used to complement the company's organizational structure, company regulations and labor laws in dealing with all labor issues in the company.
