The Incredible Importance Of Clean Windows In Your Business

There is an old saying that goes "You only have one chance to create a good first impression" and it is so true. When you run any sort of business, you will very often have customers and clients visiting your office, and the first thing that they see when they park in your car park and get out of the car is your office block. It needs to be clean and sparkling. If they look up and see grimy windows with bird mess on them your ranking is going to go straight down in their estimation before they have even walked through the door.

The same thing is true if you run a kebab shop, a fish and chip shop, a café, or a restaurant, because who wants to buy food or eat in an establishment that looks dirty? In fact, the same thing is true of any retail business – a hardware shop, convenience store, fashion outlet, newsagents, mobile phone shop, department store, dry cleaners – anything at all, because nobody wants to go into a place that looks grubby. People may not even realise exactly WHY they don’t feel like entering your premises or inspecting the goods in your window, but if it puts them off, you are losing business.

This is why regular window cleaning is so important. There are companies out there who undertake commercial window cleaning nationwide and will use industrial rope access or cradles to clean the windows of the tallest buildings. This is a very different kettle of fish from cleaning the front window of a fish and chip shop, but nonetheless equally important.

If you have a large office building and you employ a large number of staff, there is the small matter of staff efficiency and effectiveness at their job. According to Psychology Today, workplace performance is increased if staff have access to good natural light. They report on research published in the online journal SLEEP which found that there is a strong connection between daylight exposure in the workplace and office workers’ sleep, activity, and quality of life.

It Makes Sense

It makes sense. Staff who are contented and have access to plenty of sunlight (and thus Vitamin D) during the working day have been found to be more productive than those who do not. Dirty office windows impede the amount of light that gets into the office and also can have a detrimental effect if the glass is dirty and may have bird mess on it, preventing a clear view of the outside world.

When you have clients visiting your office, the first thing they will notice is the appearance. If it looks sloppy it reflects that the business may be sloppy too, whereas a clean environment with clean windows gives the impression of efficiency and effectiveness.

Of course, if you need your windows cleaned at home there will be local residential window cleaners upon whom you can call and who will come once a month to clean your windows. It is always great to have nice bright windows at home and not feel the need to get a pair of ladders out at the weekend and do it yourself. However, when you are talking about commercial buildings, some of them can be hundreds of feet high. Even a hundred or a hundred and fifty feet is a long way up, and your local residential window cleaner has neither the skills nor the inclination to get involved.

This is why there are specialist companies who undertake window cleaning nationwide and specialise in high rise office blocks. These companies will use cradles or industrial rope access to enable them to clean windows at very great heights, and the skills that they possess are something that takes considerable time to learn in order to become qualified to do something that strikes fear into the hearts of we ordinary mortals who would never dream of going out there in a million years.

Yet they do it, and they do it cheerfully, and are happy to travel the country cleaning high rise buildings for their customers on a regular basis. The most important thing that these companies have is years of experience along with accreditations such as membership of The British Window Cleaning Academy, ClearChoice, IPAF, and so on, and you should look for these when considering a window cleaning company for a high rise building.
