A New Way of Shopping
Google Now for Android has received an update which is attempting to merge the online and offline worlds with a new feature in Google now that alerts the user if he walks close by to a product that he/she has researched online. Imagine how simple life would be with this application for both shoppers & online marketing company, you saw a wonderful dress for your wife online sometime back and happened to run across that store which had the dress, you might see a Google Now card showing you the product and price to remind you that you needed them. Obviously you will need to have an internet connection on your phone to do that. Now you will never miss a thing that you wanted to buy and forgot, you just have to go to the store and check what you wanted. Google has been revolutionizing the way we see things and they are surely putting the right foot forward with the latest products they have come up with.
This is not specified that how close you need to be to the store for the notification to pop up and if you can turn the feature off or not, but hey who needs to turn this feature off its amazing. Google announced this feature on the same day when the news hit that they were expanding same-day delivery for Google Shopping Express in parts of New York and Los Angeles. However this feature is not going to affect the online marketing India. If Google could connect their other features like search activity with offline purchases via Google Wallet, then this would be a very big breakthrough.
The new product cards show recently researched products along with their price and the store they are available in. It would not be surprising if Google added availability information to Google Now one day as well, that would be just awesome. Facebook is looking to do the same by partnering with data mining firms like Datalogix and Epsilon to target ads to customers based on their previous offline shopping behavior. The feature is well, though after and sounds amazing for people who are very busy. You can download the new version of Googles search assistant directly from Google Play.
This attempt to Bridge the gap between online and offline worlds could change the way we shop and make the experience simpler. Googles efforts in various projects like Google Glass and project loon have been amazing, hope is that this project will also assist and amaze us a great deal.
