These 5 Things Can Help You In Improving Your Engine Performance

There are a few things you can do to improve your engine performance and also gain better fuel economy, one of the good things you can do is go and talk with the friendly guys at your local family owned Gold Coast Ute Hire Company, they will give you a few pointers and ideas when they’re not too busy.

Some things you can do yourself are:

1. Maintenance

Ensure that all the normal maintenance things like oil and filter changes have been done and your tires are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure. Change the drive belts and timing belts when recommended.Have your car tuned by a professional service mechanic and use the correct grade of fuel.

2. Air Intake

In order for your engine to run it needs the oxygen in the air to mix with the fuel, the more oxygen the more power your engine will produce. So try replacing the standard air intake with a larger capacity one with a larger filter to allow higher volumes of air to enter your throttle body. The cooler the air the denser it is and the more oxygen it will contain so keep the intake away from the heating effect of the engine.

3. Exhaust

If you increase the air intake, you will also have to increase the exhaust so the air can flow straight through in the same capacity as it enters the carburetor.Install an aftermarket Catalyst-back exhaust system. With a larger diameter exhaust pipe, you will maximize your engine’s performance. This will also increase the efficiency of your turbocharger.

4. Engine Control Unit

All modern cars are fitted with a computer or ECU to keep the engine running smoothly. It is in control of the fuel to air ratio, stopping it running too "lean" or having too much oxygen or "rich" having too much fuel in the mixture depending on the altitude and temperature which can affect the way your engine runs as well as its efficiency. Many modern cars can be programmed using their OBDII ports using programs designed for use with your specific vehicle or using "Chips" to modify your ECU using a programmer.

You can also take your car to a high performance shop and have a technician adjust your ECU to prioritize the performance or economy, freeing up extra power and getting better fuel consumption. The guys at your local Gold Coast Ute Hire Center will be able to advise you of the best places to go for this in your area.

5. Tyres

By selecting the right high performance tyres and having them set at the correct pressure you can increase the performance of your car by having better traction and less slip and resistance or friction. Most standard tyres "S" are rated to 120 miles per hour. High performance tyres marked "Z" are rated for speeds of over 150 MPH.

If you want to increase the performance of your car engine then you have to modify the air intake and exhaust as well as reducing its overall weight and the drag effect of the tyres on the road and wind resistance. All these measures will also increase its fuel efficiency.
