Not all burglars intrude wearing a black mask and having a sack on the back with an aim to stuff it with whatever they find worth the risk. While this perception may perfectly fit a filmy robber, the reality is far too different from what it seems like.

With wrong awareness arises the inappropriate knowledge for corrective measures. Therefore, not many people consider installing security alarms in their premises. Keeping this in mind, here are some popular myths that shouldn’t be aired enough anymore.

Myth 1: Intrusion Detection System Cannot Stop a Burglar: Most probably, this is one of the biggest myths that deter half of the population from getting these systems installed. The truth is, they do work. The modern ones are connected to a central monitoring centre, which offers 24/7 monitoring services. Security systems send a signal to these centres whenever they sense an unaccepted entry to your premises. And then, these centres instantly inform the police and the owners regarding the outbreak. In fact, they can also alert your neighbours and friends in case you are travelling.

Myth 2: Intrusion Alarm Systems Raise False Alarm: While there is no denying the fact that older versions of security systems used to generate false alarms, the modern ones are fitted with the latest false alarm reduction features that make sure alarms are not set off without a valid reason. People often think that even pets can trigger these alarms. While this used to be the case, modern systems are well-equipped to differentiate between a dog or cat and a human walking in your backyard.

Myth 3: Intruder Alarms Are Very Expensive: There was a time when the security system used to be a luxury as only a handful of people got to make extreme use of them. Since then, this perception is predominantly out there that buying a security system would be expensive. To tell you the fact, you can even purchase these systems at a budgeted price. And then, even if you are investing a significant amount on them, this is an investment to an expense; an investment to keep you safe for years to come. Hence, it will always give you good ROI.

Myth 4: Tapping These Alarms Would Be Easy: Many people shy away from investing in an intruder detection alarm assuming that it is easy to tamper. Again, this was the case until a few years ago when the systems would be connected through a telephone wire. All that it took for people to disable the alarm would be to cut the telephone line. However, most modern detection systems are wireless making them practically tamper-proof.

Myth 5: Installing Alarm Requires Renovation: A burglar alarm does not come with a lot of prerequisites when it comes to installing. Neither you’d have to change the interiors of your home, nor you’d have to get the house renovated to make some space for these systems. The good thing is that you can even get them installed just in a couple of hours. While it used to be the case earlier with wired systems and people would have to renovate to conceal the wires, but the wireless systems solve this problem quite easily.

No one would be as concerned about your safety as you’d be. Hence, there is no denying the fact that only you’d have to take some precautions. Who knows installing such system may prevent a massive burglary? So, make your decision today.
