Wear resistant ceramic Solutions
Posted: Nov 24, 2018
- Lightweight, Anti abrasive & Temperature resistant
- Compatible with highly corrosive acids and alkalis
- Effective cost saving due to maintenance reduction, lesser breakdowns and lesser downtime.
CUMI engineered ceramics’ excellent electrical insulation & hermetic sealing (leak tight joints) makes them suitable for use in vacuum interrupters in vacuum circuit breakers. The dielectric nature of ceramics also enables them to be used as capacitors. Ceramics are preferred over various other materials exhibiting electrical insulation property e.g. rubber, plastic, wood etc. due to their excellent wear and thermal resistance.
Molten metal handling applications in metallurgy processes require extremely high thermal shock resistance, low thermal conductivity and non-wettability properties. Our CUMITHERM™(for non-ferrous) & CUMITHERM-Z ™( for ferrous) formulations have been designed to suit for high temperature molten metal environments in cast-houses and foundries. These properties are achieved by combining High purity alumina and titania in a precision controlled reaction-sintered process to engineer a microporous microstructure.
During the bulk material transfer, the equipment/machinery interacts with a broad spectrum of grain sizes ranging from big lumps to fine dust size particles. Wear is thus caused both by the abrasive action of finer particles & impact force by lumps. Catering for the twin requirement of wear and impact, Wear resistant Alumina is combined with impact resistant Rubber. This material combination acts as a perfect solution for bulk material conveyance applications. Our CUMI-RBC (Rubber backed ceramics) formulation has been specifically designed to cater for wear & impact prone environments. Some of the application areas are as mentioned below:
