10 Simple steps to setting up a Wireless Bridge

Posted: May 12, 2014
Excel Wireless is a great assistance for portable devices like laptops and Smartphone but for desktop users having no wireless adapters available it is necessary to have a very good wireless connection as compared to the current. Thus, wireless bridging is the solution to their internet connection problem.
Wireless bridge is used to connect different ports of a computer system to run wireless or Ethernet on your system. Following are some simple steps which you need to follow in order to do wireless connection to your computer.
First of all you must ensure that all the cables are working with the machine. You can check this by plugging in the cable into the port, if the light is on then it is working otherwise it is not working.
Now go to "start menu" on your desktop, then in control panel to the Network and Internet. There will be a Local Area Network (LAN) shown in the window, saying "No Internet access" in the window.
Now go to change adapter settings in the host machine on the left pane. It will show two or maybe more connections. Highlight both LAN and Wireless Network Connection. Right click on one of these and you will see the option of "Bridge Connection". Click it to set up an internet connection. This is the wireless bridge we are talking about.
You can do error checking as a new icon shows up in the window named Network Bridge. It will also display the wireless connection you are connected to below the Network Bridge. If it is not the case simply go back to step 3 by removing the bridge and follow the same process.
You can access the command line in the host machine by simply going to start menu, type "CMD", and write down the networking information in a notepad.
You can access the machine’s network information through command "ipconfig /all" in the CMD window. It will display a list of information which you can scroll to search "Ethernet adapter Network Bridge". You need to copy the Subnet Mask, IPv4 Address, Default Gateway, and the DNS Servers.
Perform the client machine setup on the client computer. Clicking on Local Area Connection will show the status of LAN, where you can select properties and then click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Enter the IP information under heading Use the following IP address. Enter the IPv4 address from host computer into the IP address bar. Follow the same code in other two bars except the last number replaced by 1.
Copy the similar information from host computer to DNS server’s addresses bars. Here also increase the last no. by 1 in the second bar.
Finally click "Validate settings upon exit" and then ok. It will take a few seconds to get your internet connection working. This is the whole process of creating a Wireless Bridge on a device.
