Dental Tourism In India
Posted: Nov 28, 2018
`Dental tourism (also called dental vacations) is a subset of the sector known as medical tourism, which is a growing sector in India. India’s medical tourism sector is expected to experience an annual growth rate of 30%, making it a $4 billion (Rs 28000 crore) industry by 2020. As medical treatment costs in the developed countries balloon, more and more Westerners are finding the prospect of international travel (coupled with a vacation) for dental care increasingly appealing. An estimated 150,000 people travel to India every year for low-priced healthcare procedures.
The rise of dental tourism is primarily because of the very high cost of treatment in developed countries. Even the Insurances which cover the dental treatment of an individual come at a very high premium. All this makes it very difficult for the middle class patients to get good dental treatment in their country. Hence they prefer to fly to countries like India, costa Rica, etc to get the treatment.
Dental tourism involves individuals seeking dental care outside of their local healthcare systems and may be accompanied by a vacation. Dental tourism is growing worldwide as the world becomes ever more interdependent and competitive, technique, material, and technological advances spread rapidly, enabling providers in "developing countries" to provide dental care at significant cost savings when compared with their peers in the developed world. In India, patients have been flooding to Kerela & Goa, because of them being favorite tourist spots. In recent years the emergence of golden ttriangle "Delhi-Agra-Jaipur" has gained a lot of traction in this space. Especially "Jaipur" has seen a lot of traffic in terms of dental patients. This is because the competition between dentists in jaipur has led to higher quality of Services in cheaper prices. Some of the Best Dental Clinic are even listed among the top dental clinics in the World. for e.g "Thaper Dental Clinic" in Jaipur is now listed among the top 50 Dental Clinics of the world in 2018 by GCR(Global Clinic Ratings) agency. The Clinic boasts some of very exclusive equipment as CAD-CAM for Dental Crowns, 3D Printer, Surgical Guide Modules, etc.
Patients not only get good quality of Treatment, but also get a good vacation at a cost which is much lower than the total treatment cost they would have to bear if the same would have been done in their homeland. The patients are primarily looking for extensive Dental Treatments such as Dental Implants, or Crowns, bridges & Root Canals. Nowadays even the demand of cosmetic dental treatment is spiking leading to more traffic for Dental Veneers. The advent of CAD CAM technology has made it more easier to get great treatment in very less time. CEREC CAD CAM consists of 3D scanning as well as 3D milling, which can make the Dental Prosthesis in one visit. It is technology like this which has made it more easier to provide very high quality Dental Treatment in lesser time span. This saves the overall cost of stay for the patient in terms of hotel costs as well as less leaves from their work. Hence Dental Tourism is a win win, both for the Dentists as well as the Dental Tourists
