3 Steps to fix Quicken Error OL-292-B

STEP ONE: Make sure your Quicken is up to date.

  • Open Quicken

Go to Help> Check for Updates

    Click Yes to install it

It may take some time or get an exit for installing the latest update, but you don’t need to worry about your work it will be saved.

  • If Quicken is up to date that’s great or if not you’ll get a notification to install the latest release on the next screen

STEP TWO: Update financial information in Quicken

Go to Tools> Online Center

Under the list of Financial institution click on the bank name that account has been associated which causes Quicken Error OL-292

Now press Ctrl+F3 and click Contact info

Click on Refresh and then OK

Now click on Update/Send…

On the next screen, it’ll ask you for your password put that in and click Update Now

Now try to update your account and see if the Quicken Error Code OL-292 occurs or not, if it appears then follow the below steps.

STEP THREE: Account information is incorrect

This error also occurred because of sudden changes in online services or information like Routing Number, Account Number, Customer ID etc.

Try to log in to your bank’s website and see if you are able to log in there.

You may receive this error code while adding a bank account, please make sure about the type of account like Savings, Checking, Cash etc.

Periodically

I update on 2 banks at the same time.

I could download bank information but could not upload payments to my banks for credit card companies or pay rent, nothing would upload, hence the 292 error.

I decided to upload payments one at a time and sure enough there was one that would not go through. I discovered that one payment had more than one entry in Quickens memorized payee list.

The fix was simple. I deleted all information regarding the payee in the MEMORIZED Payee List. I also deleted all information pertaining to the payee in the ONLINE Payee List.

Delete the payment information in the register regarding the offending payee (the entire line ctrl-d) and re-enter it. If other payments in your register have gone through LEAVE THEM ALONE!

After you re-enter the payment in the register for the offending payee, send it to the bank. It should go through without any hangup's. You might get a request to double check that the billing address information is correct, if so make any necessary changes, check it and click ok.

After all is done, go to the Memorized Payee List and locate the payee. Click on edit. On the bottom of the edit box there are 3 check boxes. Check the Lock and Leave this payee unchanged when it is edited in a register.

You can always make changes in the register on the fly, but by checking this box no other information for this payee is created and you have set a default value that can be changed with the edit function.

It appears that once in awhile the banks mailing address to someone you owe money to or electronic routing information stored on your computer differs from what the bank has on file.

In my case, I had two sets of information for one payee that confused my banks computer so the error code was really a good thing.

Hopefully Quicken will change the error code from a blanket disaster announcement to a more localized one. Maybe they need to find a way to compare data files at startup from when you last shut down. Just a thought.

Also, my bank has a user section where you must confirm that you are using Quicken. When I first started using Chase Bank nothing would work until customer support alerted me to this requirement.
