Unusual Sources of Inspiration for Unique Engagement Ring Designers

To a layman, unfamiliar with the thought processes of a creative person or artist, it may seem easy to find inspiration. Simply see what other people are doing and try to do the same. It works most times, after all, does it not?

Creative people, however, know it is not quite so simple. Inspiration can come at any time and from anything whatsoever. Things that will not inspire – or even catch the attention – of the everyday man or woman in the street will be a veritable haven of ideas for someone with a creative mind.

Unique engagement ring designers are no different. At first glance, it may seem that they take their inspiration only from the most apparent and mundane of sources – other designers, celebrity baubles, traditional cuts, and so forth. However, there are several other sources which, while perhaps not readily apparent, can provide a designer with all the inspiration and material he or she needs for a new dazzling piece.

Just such a source is nature. With its stunning palette of colours and breath-taking scenery, the natural world can be one of the biggest sources of inspiration for unique engagement ring designers. The green-blue of the ocean, for instance, can inspire a turquoise ring, while the leafy-green of a meadow in spring can give birth to an emerald-based bauble, and the reddish-brown of autumn leaves can inspire a ruby piece. And of course, flower-shaped rings are among the most common and well-liked pieces in the market. There is just so much to see, feel and experience in nature, that any designer will no doubt run to the nearest natural wonder when inspiration begins to run dry.

Nature is not, however, the only less apparent, but still effective, source of inspiration for unique engagement ring designers - media and pop culture can also have a big influence in this regard. Even if the designer in question opts to avoid looking at celebrity designs, he or she can still find inspiration in a particular popular or well-liked programme. The ensuing piece does not have to be fashioned in the shape of a character or prop from the show, either; in a period piece, for example, the designer can look at a jewel worn by one of the characters and derive his or her muse from there.

City-wandering and people-watching can also be good sources of inspiration for unique engagement ring designers. You would be surprised at how often a particular individual impresses a designer to the point where he or she feels inspired to design a bauble that would fit just that person. As for cityscapes, such as vibrant streets or neighbourhoods, they tend to be an excellent catalyst for the more creative side of any artist, and the case is no different for engagement ring designers!

It becomes clear, then, that there is more to the inspiration of bespoke ring designers than meets the eye!
