Thailand offers a dramatic clash of geography and lifestyles; with sprawling cities and isolated islands rubbing shoulders, it truly presents a world of possibilities to those who wish to seek them. Thailand is also a hub for investment and development, with an ever increasing focus on the international standing of the country and its industries meaning that there has been a lot of growth in recent years. A key part of this growth has been property building; not just normal homes, but luxury homes where not only is international interest a possibility, it is positively sought after. This means there has never been a better time to find amazing luxury properties for sale in Samui, Phuket, Koh Pha Ngan or any of the other islands and coastal areas.

Why Thailand?

Aside from the aforementioned factors that have influenced the availability of luxury properties, Thailand also offers a variety of other draws as well. The scenery is beautiful, and with tropical beaches alongside dense forests you will always find something new to explore along with the eclectic range of local cultures and delicacies on offer. Stepping away from the experiential side of life, the cost of living in Thailand is also significantly cheaper than almost anywhere in Europe and the United States, so your money will carry you a lot further than it would elsewhere in the world. There is genuinely also somewhere for everyone; with a whole range of different lifestyles ranging from quiet retirement communities to vibrant clubbing and nightlife meaning that you can find somewhere to settle that suits you. As well as all of this, the weather is sunny and hot for most of the year; whilst not necessarily for everyone, you can’t deny the climate compliments the beaches wonderfully.

Why beachfront properties?

Why not! If you are going to make the move somewhere tropical such as Thailand then surely you want the fullest interpretation of that experience, and that means living by the sea. There are however other, less subjective reasons to look at beachfront properties. For example, beachfront properties hold their value with far greater stability than inland properties due to their highly desirable nature. There is also a great market for renting out beachfront properties; if you are looking at buying one as a holiday home, then let it make money for you the rest of the year. If you couple these sound financial reasons with the fact that the coast is the most temperate climate area you can find, with the pleasant ocean breezes, the picture begins to paint itself. As well as the climate, there is an abundance of potential activities to interest just about anyone near the sea so having access to a beachfront property, or at least a property near to the beach, can start to seem like the only way to experience life in Thailand.

Any points to consider?

The first thing you should be doing is research the types of locations that have properties for sale. Many places have wonderful properties available and with locations such as Phuket and Koh Samui, villas on the beach are plentiful. But you need to gather an understanding of the way these places work, if they are busy or relaxed, full of tourists or predominantly locals, if the local areas have the facilities you need and many other general lifestyle considerations, to ensure that they could be right for you. Finding a nice property and then making sure the area suits you or visa versa are both valid strategies, but you need both parts of the equation, otherwise you risk a considerable mismatch that could lead to a lot of regret. Simply put, take your time and do your research before jumping in with both feet is probably the single best piece of advice here.

Ultimately, Thailand might not be to your tastes and it certainly won’t be to everybody's, but this is the beauty of the human race, the breadth and depth of variety that we all present is a wonderful thing. If Thailand does sound intriguing to you, then there don’t do it in half measures. If you can afford it, go all in and find a beachfront property to call your own. I guarantee you’ll never look back!
