Vitamin K2 health supplements for the bones
Posted: Dec 28, 2018
This is a question most people don’t know the answer to. Not many people I converse with about bone density and human body health do... I am sure that you’ve heard that calcium is one of the essential or key minerals when it concerns the maintenance of healthy bones and fighting against osteoporosis.
What about the two important nutrients or ingredients if you like that are important for calcium to do all its bone-building jobs? They are actually both vitamins.
I am sure that you will have heard of this one, it’s vitamin D. It’s essentially the sunshine vitamin that helps absorb calcium effectively. In specific, without vitamin D our body can only absorb 10-15% of the calcium we intake! But there is another vitamin that many people don’t really know about – that’s called vitamin K2.
Vitamin K2 concentration supplements might not be that well-known as others, but they act as a very important role to your bone health. Vitamin K2 supplements can activate two specific proteins that modulate where calcium is distributed in our body. These are osteocalcin which directs the calcium you eat to where it's required the most, e.g. your bones and two, matrix gla protein which keeps calcium out of your blood vessels, kidneys, brain, and soft tissues. In other words, you can think of vitamin K2 supplements as a system regulating protein and in specific calcium.
Vitamin K2 supplements an also give an explanation to the different, kind of weird studies about calcium too. The studies that mention that supplements with calcium, or l tyrosine, may increase the risk of heart attack instead of outlining all the calcium and l tyrosine health benefits have to offer to our body and bones. Those specific studies can actually disregard the importance of vitamin K2 supplements and how our body uses calcium on a daily basis. You have to note that without vitamin K2, there is nothing to regulate where the calcium is actually going.
So yes, the people participating in those studies were provided with calcium in some kind of form. And in many situations, they were consuming vitamin D supplements to make sure it was being absorbed correctly by the body. However, they weren't consuming enough vitamin K2 supplements, so the calcium wasn’t going to the right places of the body as it should. And that's the reason they faced a high risk of heart attack.
Just remember that calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin K2 dietary healthy supplements or any other form, function as a team to create and maintain healthy bones over time. And you would need to provide your body with all of them. When you actually provide your body with these nutrients, you are supplying your bones with the healthy ingredients they require the most in order to further and remain strong and of course, with no risk of having a heart attack. So make sure to research your supplements and incorporate them to your nutrition plan with proper exercise and a healthy lifestyle.Marios Kokolakis is a health motivation blogger at BrainSharp; a nutrition blog promoting organic supplements for concentration and productivity.
