Plaque formation is also a reason that causes tooth decay and you must know how to prevent its build up. To counter the risk of plaque, you must avoid sugary items, be regular with oral care routine and rinse the mouth.

If the plaque formation is not stopped, it can attack the enamel which eventually causes holes in the teeth also known as cavities. You should also take measure for dry mouth which is a major reason behind plaque formation. When your mouth is dry, which means there will be more plaque that it should be. You however can drink plenty of water, stay hydrated and stop plaque formation. It’s also a good strategy to brush so that the sugar and acid won’t be stuck on the teeth ever and your risk of plaque is kept at the lowest possible level.

If tooth decay is a concern, you should then look to choose your foods and drinks carefully as not all are worth the trust. The focus should be on getting a balanced diet with no traces of sugar or starch in it, like cheese, apples, almonds, fresh vegetables etc. Bacteria is also a reason behind tooth decay and you must clean your tongue daily and avoid foods with high sugar content. Some medical problems may also be responsible for decay to your teeth which you can consult with the dentist and remove. You can clearly see tooth decay is entirely preventable provided you take the right step.

If you take oral care seriously, there is no reason why tooth decay will trouble you ever. If you are regular with brushing, flossing, rinsing, and if you eat right and avoid sugary and acidic foods, you can then be sure about healthy teeth and gums. And if nothing works, you can always consult the dentist and go for tooth decay treatment in a timely manner.
