CM Bhupesh Baghel reviews mining department works

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel chaired a meeting of mining department.

He pointed out that memories of martyr Veer Narayan Singh remains of utmost significance to the state.

But he also expressed concern as to how mining permission was granted on the very land of his birth.

He insisted on the need to review the conditions under which the mining permissions were granted.

CM Bhupesh Baghel also expressed displeasure on the working of District Mineral Fund.

He was concerned that funds were spent but without regard to those affected from the mining operations.

It was pointed out that Rs 4553 crores worth non essential infra projects were approved out of DMF and almost Rs 2520 crores were actually spent.

CM Bhupesh Baghel said that works that have yet to start under such approvals be halted and if at all, a probe needs to be instituted on works that have been completed.

He said that funds of the DMF better be utilized for provision of education, health, improving standard of living and livelihood, which is also the basic objective.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sunil Kujur, Gaurav Dwivedi, Secretary to CM, Mineral Development Corporation Director Alermel Mangai D apart from other officials.
