When couples feel hopeless about their marriage, they opt for divorce. It’s a tough decision to make emotionally and mentally as this involves matters pertaining to kids and finances. Arguments, infidelity and unrealistic expectations are the top reasons why couples prefer to break their marriage vows.

Unlike old traditions that protect the marriage bonds, current laws weaken the mere purpose why people marry from day one. Isn’t it supposed to last forever? It’s the promise to love each other for better and for worst until death.

Looking into a more realistic picture, somehow living separately could mean better than messing with life living like hell with someone who doesn’t really care at all. On the other side, it can be a selfish move as most people who run away from marriage troubles make the situation even worse with kids growing up with shattered dreams. Statistics revealed that most children who have grown from broken families often end up with broken marriages as well repeating the cycle through generations.

The Psychological Impact of divorce

More than the couples, divorce largely affect the growing kids and adolescents. Although slightly contrasting, these effects are often unfavorable. Who would really want to witness the lost love of their parents breaking the promised commitment? This painful event somehow shakes dependency among very young children and pushes the adolescents to scary unpredictability and independence as an aggressive response to this stressful situation.

Young kids tend to get their parents attention back regressing with separation anxiety as crying at night asking heartbreaking questions about where and when will their moms or daddies comes home. Meanwhile, adolescents often seek comfort with friends playing out the role of in-dependency trying to get back at their parents by simply acting they don’t care the way they feel that their parents never cared about them going into such drastic decision to split up.

Hence, if couples think that divorce is the best option, they need to think about the negative consequences and deal with them. Parents need to set mature agreements to make the adjustments easier for everyone reassuring them of love and security despite new set-up.
