They are designed in a way that they work in concurrence with the headlight, meaning they are turned on automatically when the headlights are switched on. These lights help drivers driving behind an automotive to detect it and identify the distance between their automotive to that of the ones travelling in the front.

  • Daytime Running Lights:

The daytime running lights are located in the front as well the rear part of an automotive. These lights do not require any additional switch, as they turn on automatically. However, the contemporary automotive are designed with a separate switch for the taillights and the driver can switch it off as per his convenience. These lights make an automotive visible to other, which in turn can help reduce a number of road hazards.

  • Signal Lights:

Often known as blinkers, the signal lights are located in the front and the back of an automotive, apart from the headlight and taillight. When a driver wishes to move either right or left, he switches the blinker in that direction. This is how the drivers behind this automotive can know that the car is going to slow down and that they should maintain a safe distance from it.

  • Brake Lights:

Brake lights are located adjacent to the taillights. These lights automatically get activated when brakes are applied. These are bright red in color and it is advisable to keep a check on your brake lights, as they are prone to getting damaged.

  • Hazard Lights:

Commonly known as flashers, the hazard lights are located in the back and the front of an automotive. When these lights are switched on, both sets of hazard lights on the back and the front of an automotive get activated. These are yellow in color and they flash continuously, when they are activated. These lights are utilized to signify that a driver is facing a problem with the traffic or an immediate danger.

  • Fog Lights:

The fog lights are located in the lower segment of headlights. These are mounted low in an automotive to prevent the refraction of light from creating an excessive glare at you. These should be leveraged only when the headlights do not work.
