What is Enneagram Sampler Test and why is it Used in Coaching?

Enneagram Sampler Test is a test that is used to understand the personality profile of individuals. It gives a clear indication of the strengths and weaknesses of each individual. Every individual fits into one of nine different personality profiles. The sampler test helps each individual to be more self-aware about himself/herself. This is a scientifically validated test that is used extensively in coaching by professional institutes to help participants become fully aware of personality profiles.

What are the nine different enneagram personalities?

The Reformer – This category of individuals have a very strong sense of what is right and what is wrong. Their attempts are to work towards improvement and when they do attempt this, there is a possibility of slipping into a situation where they are critical.

The Helper – Individuals who are labeled as The Helper type are filled with empathy and are warm and friendly. They try to help others and in doing so they sometimes end up doing things only for the sake of being wanted.

The Achiever – This category of individuals are typically ambitious personality types. They are very self conscious about themselves and try to forever advance to higher levels. They are concerned about the image or perception of others regarding them.

The Individualist – Individuals of this category are more self conscious and moody. They sometimes develop feelings of vulnerability and imperfection and therefore end up withholding themselves. They are most likely to exhibit self pity and self indulgence.

The Investigator – This category of individuals are alert and curious. The attempt is always to develop skills and focus on improvement. They are highly independent and innovative. However, the creative pursuit may sometimes make them pre-occupied with something.

The Loyalist – Hardworking, trustworthy and loyalty are the attributes of this type of personality. They are reliable and perfect for handling situations that need to be resolved.

The Enthusiast – Individuals who are constantly looking for new experiences, this category of individuals are impatient and always raring to do something. The high energy levels ends up with them spreading energies over many tasks.

The Challenger- The assertive type, this category of individuals are protective and decisive. They automatically try to control the environment around them and this is most likely to end up in some kid of confrontation with others.

The Peacemaker- Creative, supportive and receptive, this category of individuals are more likely to go along with others just for the sake of ensuring that all is well. They never try to upset the cart and this can end up in complacency.

Each individual is unique and it is this nature of different/diverse personalities that make society and workplaces rich and interesting. However, a lack of awareness among individuals of their personality traits and those of others often leads to undesirable situations. By becoming more self aware about oneself, it is possible to adapt to a situation better. By also reading understanding the profile of others, it is possible to be able to reach better to a situation. This is precisely why Enneagram Sampler Test is a part of coaching. It helps participants to understand profiles better and respond to situations better.
