Our privilege of being able to assist many others who are looking to customise their own self inking stamp has given us a better understanding on what concerns people might have about them. So if you’re thinking about purchasing a self inking stamp but are worried about a few factors, here are some answers to common queries that just might help you make a better informed decision:

Can I use images in my design for my self inking stamp?

You definitely can substitute words with images for your self inking stamp, provided that the stamp size you are getting is big enough to accommodate your image. Ideally, you should be picking images that aren’t intricate so that there’s ample space to work with. This also decreases the likelihood of your design being unclear since ink tends to spread. We would also like to point out that when it comes to licensed images (think Hello Kitty and the like), we are unable to use them because of copyright issues so make sure that you are able to get permission from the creators before you are using any other images from other sources.

Can I use a self inking stamp on material other than paper?

The simplified answer to this is yes, however the most crucial factor that can affect end results is the type of ink you are using with your self inking stamp. Let’s take fabric as the material you want to stamp on for example. Realistically, if you lay fabric on an even surface, you’ll be able to stamp on it. But in order for your stamped image to stay on your fabric permanently, you will need to heat set it so that the ink dries completely. You also don’t want to run the risk of your ink staining or smudging. So in situations like these, you should be looking into using archival ink instead.

Why do I get extra lines on the side of my stamped image when I try to stamp?

Usually when this happens, it’s because there is excess ink left on the base of the self inking stamp. In such cases, the excess should be stamped away after one or two additional chops on a piece of scrap paper. You will also like to pay attention to how you are stamping too! A self inking stamp does not require nearly as much force needed compared to a regular rubber stamp so just a light pressure would do. When you’re stamping, try not to press it forcefully or rock your stamp in any way.

How do I refill my self inking stamp when it’s out of ink?

It depends on the model of the self inking stamp you have purchased. Most self inking rubber stamps come with a detachable handle where, upon removing, you’ll notice the nozzle for you to drip ink into. Whereas other self inking rubber stamps like our rectangular pocket self inking stamp series have to be pushed down to expose the nozzle openings. Remember to give it ten or fifteen minutes before trying to stamp again so that the ink has time to settle.
