These days, throwing a birthday party for your little kids is just as pressuring as throwing a wedding – the decor and food have to be Instagram-worthy, the giveaways seem to be a must, and of course, everything must be fun. Event organizers are even taking over birthday parties as part of their services. Whether you are the hands-on mom who wants to DIY everything or the career woman mother who hires a service, you still have to decide what birthday theme to go with.

The birthday theme is the first thing you should decide on as it dictates the decors, the setup, and even the food. It’s easier to decide for girls since there are princesses, unicorns, and fairies and there are lots of supplies out there for such parties. But what about boys? Well, here is a list of suggestions that your little one might love:

Safari

Every kid loves animals so a safari theme can work both for boys and girls. Have your birthday boy dress up in a cute khaki outfit and get everything animal-related for the party. This is a very popular theme so you definitely won’t have a hard time looking for supplies. You can even hire a petting zoo service to come to your party if you can afford it so that the kids can have a close encounter with animals that they do not normally see every day.

Lego

Thanks to the Lego movie franchises, the little building blocks are back in style. If your little kid loves Lego, then you can not miss out on this theme. Plus there are little packs of Lego available that you can use as giveaways for your guests.

Circus

A circus-themed party is a colorful one. You can get a big tent in the yard and hire cart vendors selling popcorn, cotton candy, and other snacks you usually find in a circus. You can also hire some circus folk like magicians, jugglers, and clowns to perform for your kids.

Lumberjack

You can go all rustic (but manly rustic) with a lumberjack-themed party. Have your guests come in checkered, denim, or jumper outfits for cute pictorials. Use wooden decors, and you can even make the cake look like a log.

Military

Whether you go for the army, navy, or air force – a military theme will never fail. This is also great if your husband serves in the forces. He can call up some of his buddies to show up in the party in full gear. You can even turn it into a homecoming surprise for your kid if your husband manages to make it possible to come home for his birthday.

Sports

Any sports-themed party clearly shows the celebrant is a boy. Get your birthday boy the sports attire and have the decors focused on the sports he picks whether it be softball, soccer, basketball, etc. Try to see if you can do the real game in your venue as well.

Dr. Seuss

Kids grow up reading Dr. Seuss books so a Dr. Seuss theme will be a hit, especially for the toddlers. For decors, you can easily go with the Dr. Seuss colors – red, white, and blue. You can even hire someone to dress up as Dr. Seuss and read some books to the kids, which is a great way for them to stop running around for some time. Learn more about gifts ideas on stone foot.

Superheroes

Your kid surely has a favorite superhero that he admires so why not use that as a theme and have everything focus on that. If your kid is too young to settle on a favorite yet why not do a general superhero themed party? You can ask your guests to dress up their kids in superhero costumes. Surely everyone will have fun seeing cute youngsters dressed up as different superheroes and playing with each other.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Who does not love Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael? Instead of party hats, you can purchase orange, red, blue, and purple cloths and make their trademark masks and you can even DIY the turtle shell in the back. Download the movie or the cartoon series online, and you can have that playing on your TV screen. Bonus for lazy moms: You can order lots and lots of pizza (the turtles’ favorite food) and still stick to the theme.

Of course, do not get caught up in the party planning and forget your birthday's gift. Remember, your little ones wait all year for their special day to come and look forward to it as it nears. With these birthday themes, you can never go wrong, and you can be assured that your little boy will remember his birthday party for a long time.
