The New 2015 Chrysler 200 is Turning Heads
Posted: May 28, 2014
Chrysler is a brand that prides itself on being known for luxury. Its vehicles are well known for having exquisite comfort and styling. Not seeing luxury as something that should be limited to certain people, the company expanded into the mid-sized range in 2011. The Chrysler 200 was based on the existing 300 and meant to compete with other mid-sized cars. With a comparable price and many excellent features, it was an acceptable option for the segment. It was, however, derived from another car in another segment and showed a few signs of age because of this.
Enter the new 2015 Chrysler 200. Redesigned based on the Compact US Wide platform used by GM, the new 200 is designed from the ground up to be leaner and more powerful than ever before. With the intent to increase features across the board, the latest version of the 200 packs in better gas mileage, a massively updated infotainment system, more room and better comfort. Smarter engines will still carry quite a bit of power that will not cost more at the pump. The result is an estimated 35 MPG Highway.
One of the highlights of the 2015 Chrysler 200 is its new independent wheel drive design. Available with the 3.6L Pentastar engine, this system allows for power to be adjusted to each of the wheels on an as needed basis. This keeps the wheels from receiving power when they do not need it. The system can detect aberrations in the road which can give more or less power to the wheels. This reduces the amount of fuel needed to keep the vehicle moving in almost any condition. The version that comes with a 2.4L TigerShark engine will also have a start/stop system that conserves gas when the vehicle is at rest.
Another improvement on the 2015 Chrysler 200 is the massive 8.4 inch infotainment system. Designed to compete with other systems in its class, the new system will be equipped with all the expected features. This includes optional satellite radio, connectivity to both Bluetooth devices and MP3 players, and optional traffic and directional capabilities. It is a significant improvement over the system found in the current 200.
Safety is an important improvement on the new 200. One important addition is the rear back up camera to keep an eye on what is going on behind the vehicle. Four wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, and standard airbags help round out the standard safety features that should help keep the vehicle safe in the case of a collision.
These are but a few of the features that make the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 an exciting mid-sized vehicle. With a Nine Speed automatic transmission, the 200 is going to have a considerable amount of get up and go. This will not sacrifice fuel efficiency and should compete with any car in its class. With a range of trim options from sporty to stylish, the 200 will come in both 4-Door and 2-Door convertible. With an MSRP starting at $21,700, the newest Chrysler 200 should go on sale in the second half of 2014. Drop by your local Chrysler dealer to check one out when they become available.
