Let us discuss two types of processes used in the process plants. There are some similarities, and several differences, but both deal with the fluids. One is structured packing and the other is a static mixer.

Structured packing materials are usually made of thin gauzes or corrugated metal plates. Structured packing manufacturers in Pune produce these materials for use in the distillation and absorption columns. They are strategically shaped and molded in such a way that fluids flowing around them are forced in a particular path only. This is done in order to increase the available surface area of the fluid. This precise spreading of the fluid is achieved only by building the structured packing in a certain shape.

Structured packaging can separate multiple fluids in a much more efficient way. There are four types of structured packing that are most commonly used in factories as well as chemical plants. The first and foremost is the metal gauze. When there is a low liquid rate, such surfaces are the most popular. They are meticulously designed by manufacturers so as to ensure the lowest gradient of ambient pressure. This kind of packing is also commonly used in those situations where reactive chemicals or special types of fluids are used.

Another kind of usage is in the form of knitted surfaces. They are usually rolled into single piece layers around cylindrical columns or rectangular bricks. Sheet metal is another type of structured packing which can handle liquids as well as gases. It can cover the entire gamut from low-pressure drop vacuum to high pressure absorbers. Finally, you have the grid packing, which could be either corrugated sheet metal or stamped blades.

On the other hand, when there are no moving components used while multiple fluids are being mixed, the products manufactured by static mixer manufacturers are used. As a matter of fact, the very first static mixture was built and used more than five decades ago. Depending on how the fluids flow through the mixer, they could be either laminar flow type or radial flow type. These mixers usually have very specific uses. For example, they are often used for the treatment of wastewater, or for accurate mixing of the different components of sealants. When crude oil needs to be desalted, these mixers are used. There are several other applications like processing of chemicals or production of polymers. The static mixer manufacturers in Pune achieve the required effect with the help of metal blades (called baffles) which are housed in a plastic or metal casing. The number and location of these baffles depend on the number of elements that the mixer has.

Now that you know the different uses of both static mixer and structured packing, it would be better to discuss your individual needs with the manufacturer. The market today has some of the reputable names when it comes to choosing the manufacturer of static mixers and structured packing. All you need is to check your needs first and make the right choice that matches your budget and requirement.
