Here we will take PPR Pipe PPR pipes are manufactured using fusion welding technique, which one of the most time efficient welding technique. With the help of the fusion welding technique, the durability of PPR pipes can be ensured.

THERMO FUSION (SOCKET WELDING)

Firstly, the pipe is cut according to the desired length using effective tools to obtain a clean cut which is perpendicular to the axis. The pipe and fitting are then heated with welding machine at 260 °C (+/- 10 °C) and joined without twisting.

PPR pipes connections are done using two types of welding machine-

    1. 1. TECHNO Welding machine Box type 1
(small & medium size): It is used for welding small size pipes of dimension nearly of 20-40 mm.2. TECHNO welding machine Box type 1(Big size):It is used for welding big size pipes of dimension nearly of 50-125 mm.

3. TECHNO Welding dies for welding machine (20,25,32, 40, 50, 63, 75, 90, 90 and 125) mm

A. MOUNTING OF THE TOOLS

1. Processing and Installation of PPR and PPR UV* system are almost identical.

  1. 2. The cold welding tools are assembled and tightened manually.
  2. 3. Before assembling all the welding tools should be cleaned up.
  3. 4. Welding tools should be carefully placed over the welding machine's surface making a contact with the welding tool and the heating plate.

B.ELECTRIC SUPPLY:

  1. 5. To avoid the power loss, the connections should be made using a cross-section cable according to the power input of the welding devices.
  2. 6. Plug in the welding device. Depending on the ambient temperature it takes approx. 10 - 30 minutes to heat up the heating plate.

C. HEATING UP PHASE

7. With the help of an Allan key, tighten the welding tools carefully during the heating phase.

To avoid the damaging of welding tools, pliers and other such tools should not be used.8. To set up the welding connections a temperature of 260° C is required.

The temperature check should be done prior to the welding process, according to DVS- Welding Guidelines.

PREPARATION FOR THE FUSION

  • Cut the pipe at right angles to the pipe axis. Only use specific pipe cutters or other suitable cutting pliers. Take care that the pipe axis is free from burrs or cutting debris and remove where necessary.
  • Mark the welding depth at the end of the pipe with the enclosed pencil and template.
  • Mark the desired position of the fitting on the pipe and /or fitting. The marking on the fitting and the uninterrupted line on the pipe may be used as a guide.
  • HEATING OF PIPE AND FITTING

  • Push the end of the pipe, without turning, up to the marked welding depth into the welding tool. It is essential to observe the aforementioned heating times.
  • SETTING AND ALIGNMENT

  • After the required heating time quickly remove the pipe and fitting from welding tools. Joint them immediately, and without turning, until the marked welding depth is covered by the PP- bead from the fitting.
  • The joint elements have to be fixed during the specified assembly time.
  • Use this time to correct the connection. Correction is restricted to the alignment of pipe and fitting. Never turn the elements or align the connection after the processing time.
  • After the required cooling time, the fused joint is ready for use.
  • The result of the fusion of pipe and fitting is the permanent material joining of the system elements. This connection technique provides security for a lifetime.
