It’s Time for Final School Examinations – Here’s How to Go About them

Come February and the approach of annual exams begins to make both students and their parents nervous. It is this exam that decides whether or not a student is fit to move to her / his next stage of learning in a new grade. The time is even more critical for 12th Class students whose college admission prospects depend on the results of board exams.

You may be studying in a British international school Delhi NCR or school affiliated to any other education board, here are some tips that you can use to prepare well for forthcoming exams:

Do not get anxious: Do not be bothered by the low marks that you may have got in the mid-term or prelim exams. Instead focus on better performance for the final test. Give more time to the subjects that you find ‘uninteresting’. And if you have been doing well in all, just keep enjoying your study schedule while also taking short breaks in between.

Use sample and previous years’ papers: A good way to prepare for exams is to practise with previous years’ / sample papers. This particularly works for subjects like maths, accounts and science lessons that have numerical based questions. The more you practise, the better you will get at them. If you study in a day boarding school in Delhi NCR, you can also solve them in groups with your classmates.

Make some feasible targets: It is not advisable to go on continual study marathons because they will exhaust you. At times you may be just gazing into a book and be unable to grasp anything. Instead, it is better to make a plan and set achievable targets. As an example decide on the number of maths problems you can solve in 45 minutes, fix the number of pages you can thoroughly read and understand in an hour. And then check if you were successfully able to do the same.

Eat and sleep well: Follow a structured meal plan during exams. Cut down the consumption of pizzas, burgers and street food. Eating such items may not only make you irritable and lazy but can also cause serious health problems. You certainly will not want to fall sick and risk missing out on a paper – remember that in a final exam this can cause you to drop an entire year.

Take care of your sleeping patterns too and do not over-stress yourself. Morning hours are the best to study for those who prefer peaceful environments.

Mind the phone and social media – About two decades back, weekly movies and live sports tournaments were the only distractions for students appearing for exams. Today however you live with round the clock access to the Internet, smartphone games and social media. Regardless of how tempting they may look, ignore the digital disruptions at least till your exams get over. Say a firm ‘no’ to addictive entertainment sources and give priority to your syllabus. A healthier way for recreation will be a quick outdoor game or a direct talk with your parents.
